Summary

The Albuquerque Academy Advancement Office is seeking an individual for the position of Alumni and Philanthropic Engagement Officer. This position works under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Advancement and as a collaborative member of the Advancement team. The Alumni and Philanthropic Engagement Officer will organize the strategic execution and management of Albuquerque Academy’s annual giving program – The Academy Fund, including the planning and execution of the school’s two annual days of giving as well as year-end appeals. Additionally, this person will manage the matching gifts program. The Alumni and Philanthropic Engagement Officer organizes and coordinates programming and communication designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between the Academy and its alumni, and current and former parents, grandparents, employees, and other constituent groups. Essential Functions

Design and Manage Campaigns to Support the Annual Fund

Lead the school’s annual giving program. Design and operationalize strategic plans to meet long- and short-range annual fundraising and participation goals.
Formulate and execute solicitation and communication strategies targeted toward specific market segments using a variety of media.
Manage two large annual appeals, one in the fall on Giving Tuesday and another in the spring, as well as calendar and fiscal end-of-year appeals.
Identify and move annual-giving donors with capacity toward major gifts or planned gifts.
Coordinate with parent association and multicultural parent committee volunteers to promote and support fundraising campaigns.
Manage cash gifts between $2,500 and $10,000.
Manage Albuquerque Academy’s matching gift program.
Analyze annual giving results through querying and review of monthly report data throughout the fiscal year, implementing plan adjustments based on conclusions.
With advancement team members, create and disseminate a variety of reports, including annual impact reports and reports to the board of trustees.

Refine, Implement, and Support the Alumni Engagement Program

Collaborate with volunteer groups to develop and implement a robust and meaningful alumni weekend to include five-year benchmark reunion events.
Promote and foster effective alumni relations through creative and effective communications and personal contact with constituent groups.
Provide staff assistance to Alumni Council and alumni.
Serve as a resource to alumni and others regarding alumni and Academy programs and activities.
Coordinate alumni recognition programs.

General Department and School Duties

Work with the associate director and other team members to ensure the coordination and development of the total advancement program.
Plan, coordinate, and schedule all logistical details and make necessary arrangements for programs, events, and services in assigned areas of responsibility.
Learn to use all job-related software programs and databases.
Participate actively in professional development, training, professional organizations, and other learning opportunities as assigned by supervisor.
Support the Academy and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.
Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.

Other Responsibilities

Assist in grant writing.
Attend employee meetings as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

An Albuquerque Academy alumnus/a is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in business, marketing, sales, and/or communication sciences is preferred.

An Albuquerque Academy alumnus/a is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of development and advancement concepts, methods, and procedures as related to a school environment.
Ability to make decisions independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
Willingness and excitement for working with donors to give philanthropically to Albuquerque Academy.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad range of constituencies, including the team, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, parents, students, and alumni.
Organization skills and attention to detail.
Skills in writing, proofreading, and editing.
Knowledge of PC, Mac, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of database management, Adobe, Publisher, or other creative design applications is preferred.
Knowledge of and involvement in the Albuquerque Academy community or a willingness to develop an in-depth understanding.

Special Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Working Environment

Majority of work is performed in an indoor office setting in the campus library.
Work hours are generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
