Children’s Hospital Foundation funds cutting-edge equipment, vital research and on the ground support for kids with all illnesses, injuries and conditions, throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales. We identify and action gaps in funding and support right across the kids’ health landscape – the places left lacking but no less deserving.

The role

An opportunity has arisen within our Philanthropy & Government Relations team for a Grants and Relationship Specialist. This is a permanent part time (0.6 FTE) role and is based at our corporate offices in South Brisbane.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Government Relations, the Grants and Relationship Specialist will be responsible for researching and developing the grants pipeline and writing compelling grant submissions and cases for support to secure funding.

You will be responsible for:

Identifying and researching new grant opportunities and monitoring existing opportunities to map out and organise high level prospecting pipeline activity.
Coordinating, researching, writing and submitting grant applications and acquittal reports in consultation with the Director of Philanthropy and Government Relations to secure funding from philanthropic trusts, foundations and corporate foundations.
Collaborating with the Foundation and hospital teams to understand areas of need to develop cases for support that articulate the Foundation’s current outcomes and potential for state, national and global impact.
Maintaining strong relationships with donors and focusing on high value funders that are relevant to priority projects.

Who are you?

Exceptional communication and grant writing skills and the ability to transform text from words and figures into a meaningful message to impact a target audience in order to secure funding.
Understanding of trust and foundation landscape at local, state and national level.
Ability to work with various internal and external stakeholders to pull information together to build a case for support.
Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to track opportunities, analyse and prepare budgets and forecasts.
Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Excellent qualities in negotiation, tact, discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
High level of professional conduct and interpersonal communication.

Key criteria

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

Appropriate undergraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
At least 3 years’ experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, publishing, editing or similar field.
Demonstrated experience with managing a successful portfolio of Trust & Foundation opportunities and of establishing and maintaining relationships with donors and/or trusts and foundations.
Experience identifying opportunities that fit the organisations’ purpose and remit.
Ability to hit financial targets.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and establish priorities with a commitment to quality outcomes and customer service.
