The Fund Development department aims to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief Canada (IRC) through a range of fundraising initiatives and through the acquisition and retention of donors, volunteers and community supporters.

ABOUT THE MAJOR GIFTS PROGRAM

Islamic Relief Canada's main focus for 2024 is to establish a successful Major Gifts Program. Seeking to increase the number and value of donations from corporations, and the number and value of donations from High Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), underscoring IRC's commitment to transformational giving, developing impactful relationships, and building a team that excels in Major Gifts fundraising.

Building a high-performing team that surpasses industry standards,
Corporate giving,
Prospecting high-net-worth individuals, and
Retaining and upgrading current major donors.

OVERVIEW

This pivotal leadership role exists to diversify and grow Islamic Relief’s revenue and fundraising mix through the development and maintenance of an active major donor pipeline, whilst building upon a robust and successful fundraising program to meet and exceed annual targets and objectives. As the Senior Major- MajorGifts and Philanthropy, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure funding from major donors, cultivating relationships, and ensuring sustained support for Islamic Relief Canada. Your role will involve managing a portfolio of major donors, crafting compelling proposals, and fostering strong donor relationships to meet fundraising goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Gifts Donor Management:

Leadership and execution of fundraising relationships with philanthropist individuals and family foundations
Manage a portfolio of major donors, providing personalized stewardship, and maintaining regular communication to nurture long-term engagement and support.
Develop and execute annual strategy to enhance relationship building for Major Gifts, liaising with the other fundraising managers to ensure cross-channel innovation and opportunities which serve the donor base best.
Provide effective leadership, management and development of the Major Gifts team including communicating priorities, setting goals and expectations, supporting high level performance, recognizing success and cultivating a culture of teamwork.
Develop and implement a strategic plan for team expansion, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
Meet mutually-established goals both in revenue amounts and donor/prospects development.
Leverage existing relationships within our organization to facilitate introductions and collaborations with major donors, focusing on multi-year commitments.
Identify and engage donors who have connections with HNIs and/or influential individuals, building a path within the donor cycle towards legacy giving.
Oversight of donor relationship developments and donor journeys with respective relationship keepers.
Engage with the IRC Board of Directors to leverage high worth donors and corporate connections to execute key donor strategies that require leadership solicitors.
Establish systems for cross-departmental collaboration to execute stewardship plans.
Collaborate with the communications and program teams to create compelling proposals, impact reports, and materials tailored to major donors.
Plan and execute donor cultivation events, meetings, and engagement activities to strengthen relationships and showcase the impact of donor contributions.
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and acknowledgment of major donor contributions.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and fundraising techniques to enhance major donor engagement strategies.
Maintain knowledge of industry practices and trends in stewardship, reporting and donor engagement to support best-in-class donor satisfaction, engagement and giving.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

5-7 years related work experience soliciting and stewarding annual or major gifts of 6-7 figures with a background in humanitarian organizations.
Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term authentic relationships.
Demonstrated ability to safeguard confidential information and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
Strong strategic planning and project management abilities to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
Excellent people management and leadership skills; ability to coach, develop and mentor staff.
Demonstrated strategic thinking, creative problem-solving and planning combined with exceptional organizational and project management skills
Expertise in reporting with a commitment to continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate online data, insights, trends and best practices
Proven skills in strategic and operational planning, budgeting, and reporting
Odoo software and Asana skills are a plus
