POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Strategist, Philanthropy Insights and Analytics (PIA) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing PIA’s data infrastructure. This individual also works collaboratively with firm colleagues to plan, execute, and deliver analytical and business intelligence solutions across all practice areas, including higher education, independent schools, healthcare, and arts, culture, research, and environment. Additional responsibilities include project management, business development, and thought leadership. The Data Strategist is a member of the firm’s Philanthropy Insights and Analytics team and reports to the Vice President for Philanthropy Insights and Analytics.

This is a remote position. We are open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Infrastructure:

Develop and maintain data infrastructure to support timely delivery of data insights and analytics.
Design and implement data warehousing structures for research, analytics, reporting, and dashboarding.

Optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources.

Data Analysis and Insights:

Assemble large, complex data sets to meet business requirements.
Translate data analysis and visualizations into innovative and high-quality client deliverables.
Develop and deploy analytical and business intelligence tools for actionable insights.

Project Management and Collaboration:

Participate in project teams, sharing technical skills and knowledge.
Collaborate with firm colleagues across all practice areas to deliver solutions.
Provide data support to client engagement teams and work with stakeholders on technical issues.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

Identify and implement process improvements in data infrastructure and delivery.
Maintain competency in modern data technologies and techniques.
Contribute to client-facing project teams.
Contribute to business development and thought leadership.
Contribute to the advancement of philanthropy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum five years of directly related analytical/technical experience
Minimum two years of experience working in or with the nonprofit sector, specifically in higher education, independent schools, healthcare, and/or arts, culture, research, and environment
Demonstrated expertise in building and optimizing data sets, pipelines, and architectures
Demonstrated knowledge of modern data warehouse, data management, data infrastructure, data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting best practices
Ability to proactively identify and defend against potential data quality and processing issues
Experience with customer/constituent relationship management systems like Raiser’s Edge, and/or Salesforce
Experience with leading analytics and business intelligence tools including Power BI, R, Python, Shiny, SQL, and/or Tableau
Experience with cloud-based storage and computing services
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word) and Adobe
Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas to a variety of audiences both verbally and in writing
Ability to establish, cultivate, and nurture relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Ability to think and work strategically and be able to effectively execute upon a plan
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
Demonstrated discretion and professional judgement in decision making
Demonstrated ability to attain performance targets
Demonstrated expertise in, and passion for, the advancement of philanthropy

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $100,000–$125,000. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes medical/dental/vision/life & disability, retirement, employee stock ownership plan, and a generous holiday/vacation policy. It is anticipated that this person will work out of their home with the necessary equipment and supplies to perform their duties provided by Marts&Lundy. This position may require some project-based travel, including overnight and airplane travel as needed.
