InsideTrack seeks a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join our team in the new position of Associate Vice President of Philanthropy. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Partner Success, you will play a pivotal role in our development efforts to support our post-secondary education and workforce development initiatives. The successful candidate must have a genuine interest in the mission of InsideTrack and will possess a strategic mindset, tactical execution abilities, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in making a compelling case for organizational support.

Candidates are expected to have deep knowledge of the postsecondary education landscape and strong connections with foundations and philanthropies, with the goal to increase fundraising to strengthen postsecondary institution student success and completion. Secondarily, you will be asked to raise funds for workforce development focused on career advancement.

The selected candidate must take an entrepreneurial approach while working in a team-based environment. This new position is being created to enhance and redefine InsideTrack’s philanthropic efforts in a critical period of organizational expansion. Expectations are to raise $3M+ in the first twelve months, and $5M+ annually thereafter from funding sources that are new to the organization (we currently receive resources from ECMC Foundation and Kresge Foundation, and have relationships with Lumina Foundation, College Futures, Arnold Ventures and others).

This role will also represent InsideTrack externally by speaking at conferences, publishing opinion pieces and joining conversations with other higher ed leaders. You’ll be a strong team player, leveraging your expertise and that of those around you. You’ll frequently work in a collaborative approach and will be willing to roll up your sleeves to ensure success.

Essential Job Functions:

- This is a remote role with a preferred candidate location of Denver, CO; Indianapolis, IN; Portland, OR; San Francisco (Bay Area), CA or Washington DC.

Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies:

Devise and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies (grant concepts, letters of intent, and proposals) aligned with the organization's post-secondary education & workforce development goals.Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Donation Solicitation:

Lead the solicitation of major gifts to support post-secondary education & workforce development initiatives.Build upon our foundation relationships to increase the frequency and size of donations.Create and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth prospects/donors, ensuring a personalized and strategic approach to cultivation and stewardship.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate fundraising efforts seamlessly into overall organizational goals.Foster a culture of excellence and achievement in fundraising.

Donor Engagement and Stewardship:

Develop and implement individual and organizational donor engagement strategies to enhance the donor experience.Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship of donors, recognizing their impact on our initiatives.

Marketing & Event Planning and Execution:

Collaborate with the events team to ensure events align with the overall philanthropic strategy.Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure marketing messaging and communications align with the overall philanthropic strategy.

Analysis and Reporting:

Utilize data and analytics to assess fundraising performance and identify opportunities for improvement.Provide regular reports on fundraising progress and outcomes.Manage reporting and progress of grant-funded projects, along with the coordination and submission of mid-year and final reports.

Qualifications: an ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

- Proven experience in non-profit fundraising, with a focus on gifts in the six-figure and seven-figure range from major donors and philanthropy.
- Experience with post-secondary education and workforce development and a passion for advancing educational and career opportunities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to articulate complex issues so they are clearly understood by a variety of audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills, with significant experience in concept creation and proposal development.
- A firm commitment to equity in the workplace and the achievement of equitable outcomes for minoritized students/individuals.
- An ability to operate both independently and as a member of a high functioning team as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside of the organization.

Educations Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

Preferences:

- Experience working for or with a foundation/philanthropic organization that focuses on post-secondary education and career development. Experience with and knowledge of the higher education landscape and workforce development is a plus.

Salary: $120,000 annual base salary, plus a potential year-end bonus equal to 20% of base salary

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires domestic travel approximately 15-25% of the time to attend sales presentations, conferences and internal and external business meetings that include overnight travel. At times, travel demands may be greater.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and presentations. Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and/or need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
