POSITION SUMMARY: This is an Executive Level Association Wide position within the Skagit Y that participates in association level strategy formulation discussions and decision making. The Director is responsible for leadership and oversight for these primary areas: Leadership of the Advancement Team, which includes marketing and communications staff; Annual Fund, Fund/Friend-Raising Events; creation of a Planned Giving program; and Business Sponsorships. The Director will provide strategic leadership in financial development to advance the Skagit Y’s mission. They will lead the advancement team (communications, marketing, and events staff) including contracted grant writers and liaison with the ED of SI in grant and contract writing for the Association. Additionally, the Director will assist the CEO in developing an actively engaged fundraising committee on the volunteer board of directors, and in positioning the Skagit Y as a “charity of choice” for philanthropic investment within the local community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct and coordinate Association annual campaign, grant and endowment programs and capital development.
Serve as primary staff to committees associated with financial development and other assigned committees of the Board of Directors.
In partnership with ED of Social Impact, train and lead selected Y staff or contractors in researching association and department grant opportunities
Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development
In collaboration with CEO, develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects
Oversee development and maintenance of donor database and community contacts
Liaison with ED SI to prepare and coordinate grant proposals from government sources and private foundations
Develop systems and manage resources needed to carry out fundraising plans
Establish and monitor the Advancement department budget for the Skagit Y
Develop appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the Association
Oversee the tracking all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed
Explore, participate and provide training opportunities in fundraising
Educate, motivate and provide feedback to staff and volunteers related to best practices in the fundraising process
Lead the Marketing and Communication team in collaborative development, communication and marketing plans to support all association programs.
In collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors, coordinates Executive Directors to engage in legislative advocacy efforts annually.

Qualifications & Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 1-2 years of writing, proofreading, and editing experience
Strong communications skills and attention to details
Able to demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Willing and able to learn quickly
Leadership experience highly preferred
Some videography experience preferred
Some photography experience preferred
