Summary: Under the supervision of the CEO, the Building and Grounds Director will maintain a clean, safe facility and handle any problems that may arise concerning facility safety and mechanical operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Develop and manage maintenance & Janitorial budget.
· Recruit, hire, train and supervise maintenance staff, Janitorial Supervisor and volunteers.
· Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedule; including preventative maintenance.
· Assist in strategic long‑range planning.
· Review, implement, and monitor an energy management program.
· Maintain accurate records.
· Attend all staff meetings, committee meetings and training events as required.
· Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the YMCA and community.
· Effectively communicate with contractors providing services at the YMCA.
· Purchase supplies and equipment in accordance with budget and maintenance needs.
· Repair, replace and maintain all YMCA facility components, its grounds, equipment and amenities.
· Maintaining and managing pool chemistry and pool mechanics/systems including heaters, filters, chlorinators, pumps, motors monitoring systems.
· Communicate effectively with staff and members.
· Set up and take down rooms for activities and off-site special events.
· Manage capital repair and replacement projects including specifications, bidding, oversight, and evaluation.
· Maintaining “on-call” availability to come in and address emergency situations relating to the facility, non-functioning equipment or respond to a fire alarm.
