$110,000 - $120,000

The Senior Manager of Benefits, Payroll & Compensation will oversee the day-to-day operations of human resources, including benefits, payroll support, compensation, recruitment, and employee training.
The successful candidate has experience with financial and HR management, ideally within a non-profit organization or union, and a track record of supporting staff and building a positive and strong team culture.

Responsibilities:
- Benefits Administration - Manage all aspects of communicating, implementing and administering the health benefits programs (HRA, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, FSA/DCA, and life insurance). Manage two retirement plans.
- Payroll Oversight - Oversee and provide guidance and training to the payroll coordinator on payroll standards and in processing payroll,
- Compensation - Provide expertise on compensation practices, strategies and approaches. Closely manage and support all compensation initiatives.
Generalist duties:
- Talent Acquisition - Support the recruitment and onboarding of new staff. Work with hiring managers to help create job descriptions and guide search processes.
- Performance Management - Manage the annual performance season from updating the APR tool, designing the season schedule, training, communicating to employees, and launching. Assist supervisors with Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) by ensuring clear goals and timeline are included on the PIP and describe areas of improvement and recommend training.
- Special Projects - Support department directors with professional development recommendations and conflict resolutions. Work with the operations, financial, event and other departments as needed.
Requirements
- A minimum 15 years of experience in HR, ideally within a non-profit or union setting; at least 10 years of supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience with benefits, recruitment, compliance, as well as navigating federal, state and city laws
- Expertise with benefit administration
- Experience working with payroll
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience working in a remote setting with team members
- Experience addressing performance and conduct issues and conducting workplace investigations;
- Demonstration of a strong, consistent, and dependable work ethic;
- Analyze facts and express conclusions clearly, logically, and concisely;
- Detail-oriented and excellent time-management skills
Nice to haves:
- Spanish fluency is a nice to have
- SHRM, SPHR, PHR, or Diversity Equity & Inclusion, HR certifications
Benefits
Annual salary of $110,000 - $120,000 (this is the top of the organization’s salary range).
The organization’s employees receive excellent health, dental, and vision benefits, 401k, and paid time off. This position does not qualify as a bargaining unit position.
