SPCA Florida relies heavily on fundraising to sustain our programs and services, and we are seeking a Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for our donor engagement, marketing, and fundraising programs. The Director of Development will support the Executive Director in all aspects of fundraising related to annual appeals, donor research, donor development, cultivation, retention, and database maintenance, sponsor procurement, grant writing - follow-through and final reports. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with demonstrated experience building successful fundraising programs. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborates with the Executive Director and the Marketing and Philanthropic department on fundraising goals and targets for proposals, appeals, campaigns, and events. Supports this effort with grant research, writing, and management.
- Identifies, develops, and implements strategies for the cultivation and stewardship of new, existing, and past donors and corporate sponsors.
- Works with the Executive Director, Medical Center, and Adoption Center leadership to develop and implement traditional and digital marketing plans providing maximum exposure for SPCA Florida’s marketing and philanthropic efforts.
- Implements the development, layout, design, illustration, photography, typography, color, and all other aspects of creative design for multiple projects and platforms, including newsletters, reports, brochures, signage, branding, websites, eblasts, ads, web banners, displays, presentations, videos, infographics, and more.
- Develops rapport with vendors/donors/sponsors through one-on-one interactions, exploring specific needs, and anticipating new opportunities.
- Provides logistical guidance and support for events and programs.
- Collaborates with key staff to conduct tours for mid and high-level donors.
- Maintains the integrity of donor management tracking and system maintenance and reporting.
- Sustains philanthropic efforts via donor reporting and stewardship initiatives.
- Ensures the timely and accurate posting of donations and acknowledgments.
- Responsible for accomplishing business development activities to drive revenue and consumer appeal by researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans, implementing sales plans, and managing staff.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- A BS/MS degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is required; a Masters’ degree in a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in fundraising, communications, and/or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the non-profit sector.
