Adult Day Services - San Francisco is a licensed Adult Day Program that is designed to enhance the participants’ quality of life and increase their independence. Participants enjoy a safe, fun and stimulating environment while families are eased of their constant responsibility of providing care. Seniors and adults with disabilities benefit from the healthy meals and snacks, exercise options, socialization, mental and physical stimulation, personal care support and supervision, and recreation offered. Team members promote independence, enhancing the participants experience in the program and providing continuity of care for participants and primary caregivers.
Under general supervision from the Associate Deputy Director, the Program Director assumes responsibility for day-to-day operational management of all overall program activities and functions. Responsibilities include oversight of the property management component of program; staff supervision; developing; implementing and evaluating program policies; procedures and standards; determining program service levels and enhancements; as required, developing and monitoring program budgets; providing technical advice and/or supervision to staff, other departments, the public and other agencies; and performing related work as required.
The Program Director is also responsible for all participant intakes and assessments; and providing appropriate referrals and support for caregivers, with the goal of providing and maintaining ongoing supportive services for caregivers and participants.
- Coordinate the enrollment, intake and assessments of participants and inform clients about program operations, policies and procedures. Assist in the coordination and enrollment of participants in paratransit transportation. Maintain both a hard copy and electronic participant file.
- Collaborate with staff and involve authorized representatives in the development and implementation of care plans. Provide ongoing follow-up with families, caregivers and/or authorized representatives of program participants. Provide informal counseling for participants and family caregivers as needed.
- On an annual basis, or as needed, review and update all intake, enrollment, and assessment materials.
- Implement and manage support group(s), trainings and educational materials.
- Service Management: Develop, maintain and improve standards for client service and written procedures and protocols for services.
- Operations: Monitor and direct day-to-day operations for assigned service area in compliance with Catholic Charities policies and procedures, and according to State Licensing requirements and contract funders.
- Fiscal Management: In conjunction with the Associate Deputy Director, responsible for sound fiscal management practices, to include develop, monitor and stay within assigned and approved budget.
- Communication: Consistently practice effective mission-based communication across all levels throughout the organization.
- Leadership: Participate as a member of an organization-wide Management Team to deliver the highest quality of services in keeping with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Community: Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with collaborative service providers, funders, and communities.
- Employee Development: Supervisory responsibilities to include: hiring, promoting, compensating, training, disciplining, scheduling, directing, terminating, developing and performance management of employees.
- Strategic Planning: Develops strategic plans; sets objectives based on goals; mission and values; gathers input and knowledge of others; adjusts, and monitors plans as needed.
- Development: In conjunction with the Associate Deputy Director, participates in the acquisition of new and renewals of foundation grants and government contracts, and provides for reports on funds received; including writing of proposals, reports, letters and other communications.
- Revenue Management: In conjunction with the Associate Deputy Director, responsible for managing all revenue sources to include contract renewals, acquisition of new contracts and/or fundraising, and collection of fees.
- Data entry into appropriate and assigned data base Systems, and completion of monthly reports.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, i.e. OOA, On-Lok 30th Street Senior Services Nutrition Program, Health Department, Fire Department, EOC, and Paratransit, etc.
- Be trained and prepared to implement emergency procedures for group or individuals and tend to emergencies as they arise.
- Coordinate community outreach with program staff.
- Attend meetings and training programs, as requested.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work or a related human services field required.
- MSW or related Master's Degree in a related field preferred. (3+ years of directly related experience may be substituted.)
- Two years’ experience or training working with frail elders with cognitive impairments, including various forms of dementia, and their caregivers required, and/or 2 years’ Experience or training in the care and supervision of clients in a licensed Adult Day Program or Adult Day Health Care Facility.
- Minimum of one-year experience in the management of a human services delivery system required and prior experience overseeing a direct service program are highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with government contracts and managing applicable regulations and reporting requirements highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Substantial knowledge in the area of aging/seniors services and/or for people with disabilities and the San Francisco and Bay Area service network required.
- Knowledge of structure and content of Adult Day Care Services and Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Centers.
- Ability to think analytically, work with complex objectives, supervise and direct others, and develop and foster teamwork and cooperation.
- Leadership abilities, teaching experience, ability to take-charge and/or make decisions as needed.
- Ability and experience in supervising and evaluating staff.
- Leadership capabilities, consensus-building skills, and ability to develop and motivate staff and inspire a team effort.
- Strong proven coordination skills and knowledge of community resources.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow through required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Second language skills in Spanish, Mandarin/Cantonese or Tagalog highly desirable.
