Job Summary: Seeking a highly motivated and technology savvy individual to serve as a Librarian at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Main location in Oakland as part of the Career, Business, Nonprofit department. The qualified candidate will bring strong service standards, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to actively connect customers to resources and opportunities that reflect their interests; and respond to needs within diverse and changing communities, empowering them to meet their work, life, and educational goals. This position will serve all customers visiting Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations, in all service points at CLP-Main, and throughout Allegheny County.
Location: CLP-Main, Career, Business, Nonprofit, Pittsburgh, PA.
Work Hours: 37.5 hours (about 3 days) per week; days, evenings and weekends required.
Compensation: $22.95 per hour

Requirements & Qualifications:
- MLS or MLIS from and ALA accredited school is required;
- Knowledge of current workforce and employment issues, and comfort assisting job seekers along the spectrum of career development, from help with writing resumes to providing information about professional examinations required;
- Experience with Business, Job and Career, and Nonprofit resources and databases is required;
- Three or more years of progressive experience and increasing responsibility in a service-oriented environment, including demonstrated leadership;
- Previous public library experience desired, preferably in a diverse urban environment;
- Energetic and dynamic, highly organized, self-motivated, and possess strong leadership skills;
- Ability to provide quality customer service, both in person, over the phone, and virtually;
- Proven ability to deliver high quality information in response to customer's needs, as part of programs, and departmental services;
- Ability to work as part of a team, meet deadlines, manage assignments and responsibilities effectively in a busy urban branch;
- Familiarity with online catalog, electronic databases, internet searching, virtual services, and social media;
- Must be able to work all hours agreed upon when hired and flexible hours as needed.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work to develop, implement, evaluate, and promote programs for Business, Job and Career, and Nonprofit
- Providing high quality 1:1’s for Business, Job and Career, and Nonprofit;
- Cultivate and maintain a dynamic collection in the Workforce and Economic department in response to customer usage and interests;
- Deliver high standard of customer services both internally and externally and honoring the CLP Philosophy and Standard of Service Excellence by providing patron-focused service to customers;
- Represent CLP to the community (library service area, interest area, or special initiatives);
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the location, including mentoring, guiding, and supporting the work of other departments, staff and volunteers;
- Interpret and implement library policy to customers and community;
- Contribute to developing and achieving goals and objectives related to CLP’s Strategic Plan;
- Participate in system-wide initiatives and programs, and perform committee and service teamwork, and project management;
- Engage in ongoing professional development both internally and with the greater professional community;
- Learn, competently use, and demonstrate technology in all forms.
Clearance Requirements:
- PA State Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Records Check and Mandated Reporter Training upon offer of employment.
