FBC is developing a program that offers 1 -on -1 mentorship with students, ensuring they are paired with a mentor that shares relevant cultural and personal experiences.
<\/p>
We are looking for Young Adults between the ages of 23 and 29 so that they are able to better relate to the students. In this role, you will work as a Mentor for High School students in our Students Supports for Learning Program.

Responsibilities<\/b>
<\/p>
Mentors will connect in person or virtually with youth in the program
<\/li>Develop a relationship with Mentees
<\/div>Help a mentee develop personal and academic skills
<\/div><\/li>Be a source of support and guidance for their mentee
<\/li>Maintain confidentiality
<\/li>Attend Mentorship training session
<\/li>Mentor 3 Youth

Requirements<\/h3>
Identify as a member of the Black community
<\/li>Located in British Columbia
<\/li>Prior experience as a Mentor
<\/li>Bilingualism is an asset
<\/li>Dependable (keeps commitments, shows up on time, follows through)
<\/li>Adaptable (shows the ability to overcome adversity in his or her personal and/or professional life)
<\/li>Respectful (adheres to program and family rules, interested in learning about the experiences of others, nonjudgmental)
<\/li>Resilient (can handle common youth “testing behaviors” and is not particularly “rejection -sensitive”)
<\/li>Are familiar with the topics being taught such as financial literacy, networking etc
