Position Summary
Provide specialized programming in hands-on adventure and outdoor skills. Be an active participant in campers’ experience and camp community. Uphold all policies, procedures, and safety standards for the wellbeing of staff and girls. Assist assistant directors and adventure staff for trip preparations. This seasonal full-time position is needed at Camp Alice Chester in East Troy, WI from May 26, 2026, through July 25, 2026.
Major Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement outdoor skills programing that is appropriate for each age level, badge, and weekly theme using the outdoor skills progression.
- Request needed supplies according to protocol, and timely manner.
- Assist with fire cooking.
- Teach and supervise knot-tying, fire building, outdoor cooking, knife safety, etc.
- Assist in implementing target sports and fishing programs.
- Ability to manage multiple units in a period.
- Foster a sense of environmental responsibility.
- Provide adult to camper ratio outside of specialty area.
- Keep records, create reports, and return completed paperwork on time.
- Maintain organized, inventory, and clean facility, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor wear and tear outdoor skills and fishing equipment.
- Supervise campers’ participation in structured and unstructured activities.
- Create and assemble outdoor skills programs for back up and rainy-day activities.
- Ability to adjust quickly when scheduled activities need to change and/or are no longer able to be done.
- Interpret, enforce and implement state, American Camp Association and Girl Scouts safety guidelines and standards
- Assist in the opening and closing of camp for the season.
- Participate in the upkeep and cleaning of camp and units daily.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and creative.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are & Keys to Success
- At least 18 years of age.
- Interest, experience, and/or training in specific program specialty.
- Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular work hours.
- Physical demands and work environments regularly require the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a positive, fun, and professional environment.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors including with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
- Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
- Willingness to be an active, respectful member of camp and all camp activities while upholding Girl Scout traditions.
- Must have a background check completed by GSWISE.
These Skills are a Plus
- Experience and/or training in specific program specialty.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Target Sports certification or willingness to obtain.
- Fishing license or willingness to obtain.

$503 per week, includes room and board
