McMillan has an exciting opportunity as an Accounts Payable, Team Leader in our Finance group. We are presently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a strong sense of ownership and has great leadership qualities. Reporting to the Manager, Accounts Payable & Trust, you will play a key role in overseeing our Accounts Payable department nationally.
Please note that this role offers a hybrid workweek. Each week will combine both working at home for a few days and working in the Toronto office for the balance. Your hybrid schedule will start once you join McMillan!
What You’ll Do
Team Lead Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, guidance, training and development to the Accounts Payable team
- Ensure all requests are being processed and addressed in a timely manner
- Allocate and monitor workload amongst team members
- Ensure all control processes, policies and procedures are properly documented and streamlined where necessary
- Identifying, evaluating and implementing process improvement initiatives relating to Accounts Payable
- Coordinate and participate in testing for system upgrades and other enhancements as Accounts Payable subject matter expert
- Assist in completion of annual performance reviews
- Liaise with the business, management and other members of the finance team to ensure needs are addressed in a timely manner
- Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of expense claims, vendor invoices, credit cards and client disbursements, by reviewing taxes, coding, supporting documents, authorization and adherence with Firm Policies
- Uploading and processing BCSC, SEDAR and courier files and reconciling to bank statements and invoices
- Reviewing and completing daily rush payments and weekly pay runs including payment by cheque, EFT, ACH, bill payments and wire transfers
- Processing payments through the online banking platform
- Reviewing and managing the AP inbox to ensure all queries are addressed in a timely manner
- Running Intapp Flow reports and following up with firm members to ensure all requests are processed and approved promptly
- Reviewing the AP subledger and resolving aged AP items and credit notes
- Reconciling monthly vendor statements and coordinating with internal departments and vendors regarding outstanding invoices
- Investigating and addressing outstanding cheques
- Reviewing new vendor creation and maintaining existing vendor setups in the accounting system
- Compiling back-up for auditors or firm members as requested
- Assisting in systems testing for Accounts Payable functions
- Supporting AP change initiatives and special projects
- Perform other responsibilities as required
What You Bring
- You have established yourself as a key resource in your successful finance career.
- Your history includes a graduate of a recognized community college or university with a focus in accounting.
- You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a flexible, can-do attitude toward all job responsibilities.
- You have strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. You bring strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and you are detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
- You work well both independently and as part of a team and consistently provide an exceptional level of client service.
- You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
- You also have a strong background in accounts payable with experience taking on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
