Summary:
Responsible for providing individual needs assessment and developing short and long term goals. The Youth Worker is also responsible for the overall planning and monitoring of the Youth Council and Participant recruitment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct initial needs assessment, intake and orientation of newparticipants.
- Create short- and long-term goals for participants based on the needsassessment.
- Maintain teen participant folders andapplication.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for Youth Council and youth leadership activities and specialinitiatives.
- Collect participant’s report cards to monitor their educational progress and keep track of youth academiclife.
- Monitor and track participant attendance and conduct outreach to supportretention
- Assist with the recruitment of teenparticipants.
- Co-facilitate ParentMeetings.
- Responsible for keeping the Program Director and Assistant Director informed of any changes and abnormalities that mayoccur.
- Submit weekly reports to the Program Director and Assistant Director on a timelybasis.
- Attend all program staff meetings, trainings, and specialevents.
- Assist other staff whenneeded.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time position. Work hours are as follows: Monday-Friday 6pm-10pm some Saturdays 12am-5pm. Monday – Friday 6pm-11pm

• Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
• Remain in a stationary position either working at a computer or monitoring activities.
• Move for long periods, providing instruction.
• Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.
Qualifications:
Education and/or experience required:
• Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; or working towards an AA or BA degree preferred
• 2 years Youth Worker experience
• Experience facilitating workshops and providing one on one peer mediation preferred
Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams
• Demonstrated ability to work with families who face exceptional challenges
• Excellent social skills demonstrative of empathy and support
