DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director, Individual Philanthropy is responsible for growing individual giving by creating and managing high-touch, relationship-based engagement pathways for donors. This role focuses on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors through bespoke engagement and stewardship strategies that align donor interests with the mission and priorities of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Resource Development and serves as a key member of the Resource Development (RD) team, working collaboratively to expand donor engagement, retention, and long-term philanthropic investment.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with the capacity and inclination to make meaningful and aspirational gifts.
- Develop and implement individualized donor engagement and stewardship strategies that reflect each donor’s values, interests, and philanthropic goals.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships through personalized outreach, in-person meetings, tailored experiences, and strategic involvement opportunities.
- Conduct direct, in-person and mailed solicitations for major and leadership gifts.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned portfolio of donors, maintaining comprehensive donor plans and documenting all interactions and progress in the CRM.
- Partner with RD colleagues to design bespoke stewardship and engagement opportunities, including events, volunteer leadership roles, and mission-centered experiences.
- Collaborate with board members, volunteer leaders, and senior staff to support donor cultivation and solicitation efforts, including serving as a liaison for assigned board members.
- Work closely with the Senior Vice President, Resource Development to set individual giving goals, monitor progress, and adjust strategies to maximize impact and revenue growth.
- Ensure a high-quality donor experience by providing responsive, thoughtful stewardship and ongoing communication.
- Coordinate with the Fundraising Database Specialist to ensure accurate gift processing, documentation, and reporting.
- Provide regular performance updates, donor insights, and revenue projections as requested by the Senior Vice President, Resource Development.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in individual or major gift fundraising, with demonstrated results in relationship-based giving.
- Experience managing donor portfolios and developing personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and donor data management, with Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse donors, board members, and community leaders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to contribute to both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support donor engagement activities.
