Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Lead Quality Improvement Specialist, the Quality Improvement (QI) Specialist supports all programs across the organization by completing ongoing case record reviews to ensure consistency and adherence to regulatory and internal documentation standards. The QI Specialist trains staff on accurate chart documentation and provides additional support as needed. This role also requires navigating multiple electronic health record (EHR) systems to conduct reviews and support quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions

Update, maintain, and submit documentation in a thorough and timely manner (i.e., Case Record Reviews, Quality Service Requests (QSR), status lists, audit tools, DMH documentation and internal forms)
The QI Specialist will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsCompetency Requirements
-Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
-Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
-Ability to constructively utilize supervision and consultation
-Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
-Must demonstrate high attention to detail
-Knowledge of Council on Accreditation guidelines and DCFS and DMH regulations
-Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) and be able to independently operate a computer
Education and Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field preferred and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
-Experience auditing charts in an outpatient or residential setting preferred
-Experience with Department of Mental Health regulations and activity codes
-Experience creating and managing databases
Certifications/Licenses
-Valid CA driver’s license
Additional Requirements
-Tuberculosis clearance
-Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance
-Satisfactory completion of health screening
-Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States
-Satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of a QI Specialist, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach, drive and use their fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument. The employee is occasionally required to walk and lift objects heavier than ten pounds. The employee is rarely required to kneel.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily indoors. The noise level varies from quiet to moderate.
