NATURE & SCOPE
The Integration Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for the successful integration of children with disabilities, behavioural challenges, medical needs, or other considerations within YMCA Day Camp programs. The role ensures that individualized supports are planned, implemented, and monitored effectively, while building staff capacity and maintaining safe, high-quality, inclusive camp environments across multiple sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inclusion Planning & Camper Support
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of individualized integration and behaviour support plans in collaboration with families, camp leadership, and integration staff.
- Apply evidence-informed practices in child development, inclusion, behaviour management, and de-escalation to support camper participation and success.
- Monitor camper progress and adjust strategies as needed to respond to changing needs or emerging risks.
- Provide direct support and consultation for campers demonstrating complex or escalating behaviours.
- Ensure that integration strategies are consistently applied while respecting camper dignity, confidentiality, and safety.
Staff Coaching & Capacity Building
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to Behaviour Specialists and Helping Hands Counsellors to strengthen inclusive practice and professional confidence.
- Build staff capacity through observation, modelling, and reflective practice to ensure consistent implementation of integration and behaviour support strategies.
- Identify staff learning needs and deliver targeted training, resources, and follow-up coaching.
- Support supervisors and front-line staff in managing complex group dynamics and promoting emotionally and physically safe environments.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and collaboration throughout the camp season.
Leadership & Supervision
- Provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluation for the integration team members.
- Lead weekly team meetings to review camper needs, staffing considerations, and emerging challenges.
- Address performance concerns through timely coaching, documentation, and collaboration with senior leadership.
- Support conflict resolution among staff and model professional communication and boundaries.
- Recognize staff achievements and encourage professional growth and retention.
Program Operations & Site Support
- Support camp operations across multiple sites, including site visits to assess integration implementation and staff support needs.
- Assist with intake, registration, and planning for campers requiring additional supports, including Helping Hands and Independent Support Worker placements.
- Monitor camper-to-staff ratios and ensure compliance with YMCA and Ontario Camps Association standards.
- Coordinate resources, adaptive equipment, and supplies required to support programming.
- Collaborate with Site Supervisors and camp leadership to address operational challenges impacting integration.
Family Engagement & Communication
- Maintain ongoing, professional communication with parents and guardians regarding camper progress, strategies, and concerns.
- Respond to family inquiries in a timely and respectful manner, ensuring transparency and trust.
- Support staff in navigating difficult conversations with families when behavioural or safety concerns arise.
- Ensure documentation of family communication is accurate and completed in accordance with policy.
- Escalate complex or sensitive issues to senior leadership as required.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to YMCA Child & Youth Protection Policies and all health and safety standards.
- Respond promptly to behavioural incidents, injuries, or emergencies using sound judgment and established procedures.
- Participate in emergency drills and ensure integration considerations are incorporated into emergency planning.
- Guide staff in applying Non-Violent Crisis Intervention strategies when certified.
- Make immediate decisions in crisis situations to protect camper and staff well-being.
Administration & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including integration plans, camper notes, incident reports, and behaviour tracking.
- Review incident reports for quality, completeness, and professionalism prior to submission.
- Complete daily logbooks, staff hour verification, and payroll-related updates as required.
- Prepare end-of-season reports and recommendations related to camper needs and future placement.
- Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of personal and medical information.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR(C) Certification.
- Current Criminal Reference Check with VSS.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting children with disabilities, behavioural challenges, or complex needs.
- Post-secondary education in Child & Youth Care, Behavioural Science, ECE, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of Ontario Camps Association Standards is an asset.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (Crisis Prevention Institute) Training is an asset.
- Experience supervising staff or leading inclusion or integration teams is an asset.
- Camp experience (day or residential) is an asset.
- Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) issued for the YMCA of Niagara if above the age of 18.
Working Conditions:
- Work is in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions.
- Typically work Monday through Friday, scheduled for shifts between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm.
- Evening and weekend work will be required during training and for staff meetings.
- This role requires participation in activities involving varying levels of physical activity. Accommodation will be provided in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Travel to YMCA of Niagara Locations, Access to reliable transportation daily.

DAY CAMP OVERVIEW
Camp operates Monday to Friday with shifts scheduled between 7:30am-5:30pm. Most camp staff are scheduled to work between 7.5 and 8.5 hours per day.
