DescriptionDescription: The Avanza lead facilitator assists the program coordinator by assuring high quality, professional, and safe implementation of the Avanza Program on school sites. They will supervise large group of students (ages 12-18 years) in age-appropriate curriculum.
- Avanza lead facilitators implement curriculum around workforce development based on five soft skills: social-emotional (teamwork), communication, critical thinking, and self-control, and positive self-motivation.
- They must be alert and sensitive to individual needs of the program participants and follow all health, safety, and risk management practices.
- Avanza lead facilitators contribute ideas, skills, and talents to program development and enhancement, and to student interests and operation. With guidance, and under supervision, they will implement academic and enrichment learning activities following prepared lessons.
- Avanza lead facilitators observe and manage student behavior according to approved procedures and report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
- Avanza lead facilitators will reach out companies and colleges to find locations to host program workshops.
- Be alert and sensitive to the individual needs of the students.
- Hours: Part-time, non-exempt
- Must be available from Monday to Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
- Hours will vary and there may be earlier start times as needed.
- Average hours per week: 15 to 20 hours.
- There may be reduced or no hours during school district days off throughout the school year and during school holiday breaks and summer months.
- Worksite: Various schools in the Anaheim community, Anaheim Family YMCA Administration Office, and community partner locations
- Wage: $18.00 per hour

QualificationsQualifications: Avanza lead facilitators must be at least 18 years of age. Additionally, they must have a high school diploma or GED with one year of college or work-related experience.
- Qualified candidates can demonstrate the use of soft skills proficiently: communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and positive self-motivation. They are also able to use typical business software and office equipment.
- Avanza lead facilitators must become a YMCA business driver. As a YMCA business driver, the employee must possess a valid and current driver’s license and must provide proof of minimum CA vehicle insurance coverage upon request. Business drivers must maintain an acceptable driving record. The Anaheim Family YMCA will verify driving records by running a motor vehicle report. Employees who are YMCA business drivers who do not maintain an acceptable driving record may be prohibited from being a business driver, which could affect employment status.
- All potential employees must submit to and comply with all requirements for employment including, but not limited to, a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, health screening, and tuberculosis test.
- Employees must be CPR/first aid certified within the first 30 days of employment and kept current for condition of continued employment. The Anaheim Family YMCA periodically provides CPR/first aid training to staff who need certification.
