PURPOSE OF POSITION:
A Director of School Counseling and Psychology Services at Catholic Charities:
- Leads the school counseling team in providing counseling and psychology services and supports to Catholic schools contracted with SRC for such services.
- Coordinates the hiring and onboarding of new school counselors.
- Develops and continually updates the School Counseling and Psychology Services Handbook and facilitates employee understanding of program services.
- Supervises school counseling staff and the delivery of school service
- Collaborates with school leaders to meet the emotional and mental health needs of their school communities.
- Consults with school leaders on prevention and response strategies for mental health and wellness initiatives for staff and students, as requested.
- Plans and implements a school leaders’ orientation meeting for schools served by SRC school counseling and psychological services.
- Works closely with the archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools to help carry out initiatives associated with providing mental health services to schools as well as faculty education around mental health issues.
- Understands the unique needs of students with learning differences and exceptionalities and can collaborate with special education professionals to serve these students’ mental health and behavioral needs as related to school success.
- Collaborates with the St. Raphael Counseling Director of Operations to develop and maintain a system for appropriate student-client documentation consistent with the State and counselors’ licensure requirements.
- Develops a referral process with the Executive Director for psychoeducational (or psychological) assessment and support.
- Provides support to school leaders for teacher professional development.
- Provides support to school leaders for parenting resources to promote family mental health and wellness.
- Provides professional development resources for school counselors to consult, refer and provide informational services to Catholic school faculty, staff, parents, and students.
- Serves as a resource for ideas and strategies that promote student achievement and overall success within the classroom setting and beyond.
- Develops, and participates as needed, in a crisis response flight team to address crises that occur in Catholic schools.
- Responsible for maintaining a school program budget and the stewardship of school program financial resources, including following up on grant leads
- Establishes relationships with and participates in State and local school mental health initiatives and programing that is research-based and aligned with agency values.
- Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and convey to others the values and social teachings of the Catholic Church as they relate to the individual’s treatment.
- Ability to establish rapport with students, staff, administration, and families.
- Ability to work effectively within the framework of Catholic teachings.
- Flexible and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Requires basic knowledge of computers to input data, write communications and generate report
- Demonstrate skills and sensitivity to the cultural/linguistic differences of staff, students, and community.
- Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the student population.
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse student base.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
MA, PhD, or equivalent from an accredited university in psychology or counseling.
Demonstrated leadership in school counseling and psychology services.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
State of Colorado License in Counseling or School Psychology.
MINISTERIAL REQUIREMENTS
Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and/or intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043). Refrain from public promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Masters Degree Range: $85,000-$95,000 annually
PhD Range: $95,000-$115,000 annually
