About the Role:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and compassionate
Older Adult Fitness Instructor to lead safe, engaging, and effective fitness
classes for adults ages 55+. Classes are offered at six sites in the
Halifax/Dartmouth area. The ideal candidate is passionate about healthy aging,
understands age-related physical considerations, and creates a welcoming,
supportive environment for participants of varying abilities.
In This Role, You Will:
- Design
and lead group fitness classes tailored to older adults (strength
training, balance, flexibility, low-impact cardio, stretching).
- Maintain
regular communication with clients to ensure activities are relevant to
their interests and needs.
- Communicate
regularly with the Coordinator.
- Complete
incident reports when necessary and deliver them to the Coordinator in a
timely manner.
- Maintain
a positive, inclusive, and respectful class environment.
Education and Skills Qualifications:
- Older
Adult Group Fitness Certification (YMCA, NSFA, CanFitPro, or equivalent).
- Experience
delivering group fitness to older adults.
- Ability
to work collaboratively with individuals and teams in leading programs.
- Valid
Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
- Excellent
verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability
to demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal skills.
- Bilingualism
in French, Arabic, or other languages is an asset.
- Schedule
flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours,
as needed.
