Our National Campaigns Team leads the development and delivery of high-impact, integrated campaigns that build national understanding of the value of canals and rivers and mobilise public support to protect them. Working across marketing, PR, content, social media, fundraising and influencer engagement, we create moments that connect people to waterways - championing nature, promoting wellbeing, highlighting environmental challenges and supporting fundraising and volunteering.
We’re seeking a proactive and resourceful Campaigns Manager to plan and deliver engaging and impactful multi-channel campaigns that raise brand awareness, deepen understanding of us as a charity, and build our supporter base. Working with the National Campaigns Manager, you’ll ensure each campaign reaches the right audiences, strengthens our brand, drives support and helps protect canals for future generations.
Working Hours & Location
This role follows 37 hours, Monday to Friday working pattern. The vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required. Regular travel across our network will be required. See here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers

Role Overview
The successful applicant will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of multi‑channel campaigns, shaping strategy, creative direction and stakeholder alignment to produce impactful, on‑brand work. They will drive performance through effective planning, timeline and budget management, ensuring campaigns are inclusive, aligned to organisational objectives and delivered to the highest standard. Working across campaigns, creative, digital channels and advertising, they will monitor performance, evaluate results against agreed outcomes and use insight and data to continuously improve campaign effectiveness and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end delivery of campaigns across multiple channels, from inception to completion.
Define and plan campaigns – set objectives, KPIs, audiences and turn them into clear, actionable briefs for internal teams and external partners.
Select and manage agencies to deliver cost-effective, creative and impactful campaigns.
Provide creative and strategic direction – contribute to campaign ideation, manage the creative approach, and ensure all work is on-brand, high-quality and audience-focused.
Coordinate stakeholders and teams – act as central liaison, manage relationships with internal colleagues and external agencies, and deliver presentations, briefings and updates to ensure alignment and effective delivery.
Manage budgets and resources – plan, track, and ensure efficient use of campaign budgets and resources.
Monitor performance and optimise – track progress, analyse data, report on outcomes, and use insights to improve future campaigns.
Collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary Campaigns Team, providing support where needed across core team workstreams, including celebrity, influencer, TV and filming activity.
Ensure compliance, campaign processes and brand integrity – embed campaign frameworks, follow legal and internal policies, and maintain the Trust’s brand, tone of voice and style.
The role is home-based, with a need for flexibility to meet its demands, including travel across our network for meetings, team days and campaign or marketing activities.
Promote diversity and inclusion - ensure it is integrated into all aspects of Trust activity, challenging behaviours, practices or actions that are counter to the Trust’s policies and values.
Relationships:
Works collaboratively across teams and directorates, influencing and coordinating with colleagues in Brand, Marketing, Fundraising, Digital, PR and Insight to deliver integrated campaigns.
Partners with functions across the Trust—including regional teams, volunteering, heritage and environmental colleagues—to create campaigns that support wider organisational needs.
Manages relationships with external media, creative and delivery agencies, ensuring campaigns are delivered effectively, on brief and to the required standard.

Organised, insight‑led and confident with data, you keep projects on track and make smart decisions that boost performance. With strong communication and content skills, you engage audiences effectively and collaborate seamlessly with teams and partners. Comfortable using modern planning and project‑management tools, you bring energy, clarity and momentum to every campaign.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Proven, hands-on experience delivering end-to-end, multi-channel campaigns, including briefing internal teams and external partners to ensure campaigns are executed effectively.
Strong experience managing campaigns or other multi-channel marketing and digital activity, coordinating delivery teams, multiple stakeholders and driving performance against objectives.
Expertise in evidence-led approaches, evaluating performance, gathering insights, and using data tools (e.g., GA4, Looker Studio) to plan marketing campaigns and optimise results.
Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively, delivering campaigns efficiently and on budget.
General Skills
Excellent planning, organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, copywriting and proofreading skills, with the ability to develop compelling, audience‑focused content that communicates campaign messages effectively.
Confident representing the team internally and externally, providing clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
Proficient in collaborative planning and project management tools, such as Monday.com, and visual mapping platforms like Miro to plan, track and communicate campaign progress efficiently.
