We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and highly organized Activities Director to lead and manage our Lifestyles Services program in a senior living community. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by developing engaging, meaningful, and person-centered activities that support physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being.
If you are creative, organized, and passionate about serving seniors, we would love to meet you. We are looking for someone available either Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday. This is a full-time position paying $24.00 - $27.00 DOE.
Position Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive activities program that meets the needs and interests of our residents. This role ensures compliance with community standards, budget expectations, and regulatory requirements while fostering a vibrant and engaging community culture.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
- Develop and maintain a creative and varied monthly activities calendar
- Plan and coordinate weekday, weekend, and evening events
- Organize presentations, workshops, interest groups, outings, and special events
- Recruit and coordinate speakers, entertainers, and volunteers
- Ensure programs reflect residents’ abilities, interests, and needs
- Encourage participation in wellness, intellectual, recreational, and spiritual activities
Resident Engagement
- Welcome and assist new residents with community adjustment
- Conduct resident interviews to identify interests and preferences
- Promote social involvement through outings such as shopping, dining, scenic drives, cultural events, parks, and community activities
- Observe and document resident attendance, mood, and behavior
- Report any unusual changes or concerns to the Executive Director or Resident Care Director
Leadership & Administrative Duties
- Manage daily operations of the Activities Department
- Oversee after-hours classes, meetings, and special events
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance
- Maintain budget compliance (labor and expenses)
- Track and coordinate volunteer hours
- Collaborate with leadership and care teams to enhance resident experience
- Drive community vehicle for outings and appointments when needed
Qualifications
- Experience in senior living, assisted living, memory care, or related field preferred
- Previous activities, recreation, or program coordination experience required
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative, energetic, and compassionate personality
- Ability to lead groups and engage seniors with varying cognitive and physical abilities
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

What you need to succeed:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written in English) and the ability to work with staff and external constituents.
- First Aid and/or CPR training may be required in certain state/local jurisdictions.
- WA State Food Handler's Card or be willing to obtain.
- Completion of a DSHS background/fingerprint screen. TB 2-step test also required per state/local guidelines.
