We are currently recruiting Seasonal Landscape Support Staff members to work with our Grounds Team for the 2026 spring and summer seasons.
Seasonal Landscape Support Staff will be a part of the Landscape & Conservation branch at The Dawes Arboretum.Under the direction of the Land Manager, Seasonal Landscape Support Staff will perform basic and routine grounds maintenance tasks throughout The Arboretum’s Central Grounds and Collection areas.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $16.00.
Job Responsibilities:
·Perform basic and routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, string trimming, mulching, weeding, raking, watering, etc.
·Assist Grounds Technicians and/or Arborist with tree and shrub removals as needed.
·Remove leaves, litter, and debris from Arboretum grounds.
·Operate and maintain a variety of standard grounds equipment and tools, such as mowers, edgers, transport vehicles, golf carts, rakes, shovels, pruners, etc.
·Perform invasive plant removal.
·Assist in event preparation, including set-up and tear-down.
·Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
·High school diploma/general education degree (GED), or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
·Must be at least 18 years of age.
·Must be able and willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
·Ability to follow directions and work well with others.
·Ability to independently perform job requirements in a reasonable amount of time.
·Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds, walk frequently, bend, climb a ladder, stoop, dig, and raise arms above head.
·Must have a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
·Regular and timely attendance is essential.
·Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
