Kendal at Oberlin's Hospitality Services Department is currently seeking a Laundry Team Lead for a full-time, 40 hours per week position. This is a 6:30a to 3:00p, Monday through Friday schedule, with the expectation of covering weekends/holidays when staff request off. The Laundry Team Lead is responsible for fostering a high level of teamwork with staff through effective communication, training and coaching while maintaining sanitary conditions in the laundry at all times. Further responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Collecting, sorting and washing soiled linens using industrial equipment, folding and stocking and delivering clean linens and maintaining Health Center linen par-levels.
- Managing accurate records of the daily laundry production volume and the chemical and linen inventories.
- Educating self and staff on proper use of equipment and chemicals as directed by manufacturers.
- Monitoring laundry area daily operations such as cleaning machines, carts, floors and counters, filling laundry products dispensers, using correct settings on washers and dryers, folding linens, packing linen carts and linen delivery.
- Facilitating training on the safety precautions and first aid procedures associated with use of chemicals and hazardous waste
- Reports all equipment in need of repair to the director.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be able to work as an integral part of the team in a professional manner to maintain rapport with supervisor, coworkers, administration and residents.
- Prior experience with high volume laundry and industrial washers & dryers highly preferred.
- Good reading skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
- Must have the ability to plan and organize; be innovative and willing to take initiative and able to work under pressure.
- Must have commercial laundry experience and understand the operational procedures used to effectively and efficiently manage the laundry.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to operate large machines with the utmost safety.
- Ability to work well with co-workers
- Good physical and mental health.
- Position will stand and/or walk most of the day.
- Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull heavy weight equipment and linens, as well as climb, bend, stoop, crawl, etc., with no more than minor correctable deficiencies in hearing or sight
