DescriptionThe Peer Support Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for elevating and empowering youth and family voices by supporting the Youth and Family Council members with lived experience. This position collaborates closely with partner organizations and state agencies within and beyond the System of Care Advisory Council to strengthen authentic engagement and cross-system alignment.
The PSC facilitates and cultivates safe, inclusive youth and family spaces grounded in council values shared community agreements, peer support principles, and restorative practices. Through relationship-building, coordination, and direct peer support services, the PSC advances REAP’s mission by fostering meaningful participation and systems change by youth and family voices.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
- Attend SOCAC planning meetings to plan and collaborate with youth, families, and state agencies to develop safe spaces for youth and families in order to provide peer support services.
- Attend and support REAP councils as needed.
- Responsible for facilitating restorative circles for SOCAC youth and families.
- Responsible for scheduling meetings to organize and implement SOCAC logic model aims.
- Provide regular youth and family peer support services via meetings pre-and-post debrief meetings.
- Align Peers Support efforts relating to REAP council development with REAP’s Behavioral Health Department.
- Support and attend conferences and training opportunities related to behavioral health and peer support services.
- Support reporting of challenges and accomplishments of Peer Support initiatives.
- Provide regular updates concerning Peer Support initiatives and progress to REAP staff.
- Consult partner organizations in strategies to elevate youth voice.
- Responsible for completing required reporting by SOCAC and REAP in a timely manner.
- Understanding of and commitment to customer service and REAP’s core values.

Work Environment
This position operates occasionally within a typical office and/or school setting, involving desk work, computer use, in-person and phone communication, note-taking, and the use of standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets). The role requires the ability to navigate and perform effectively in emotionally and physically challenging environments while working with youth and families. Flexibility and adaptability to changing tasks and settings are essential. The position involves frequent interaction in both indoor and outdoor community environments, which may include walking, standing, and engaging in conversations in potentially loud or crowded spaces.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular duties include talking, hearing, and general mobility within school and office environments.
While largely a sedentary role, occasional filing is required, along with participation in field trips or external events, which may necessitate physical activity. This role occasionally requires lifting office supplies or files (up to 25 pounds), and tasks such as opening filing cabinets and bending or standing.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time remote position (approximately 10-25 hours per week) performed remotely via virtual meetings during office hours. Occasional travel to onsite meetings and events as directed by Supervisor. The position also requires occasional availability for evening and weekend events. The main office is located at 10808 NE Halsey St., Portland, OR 97220.
Travel
No regular travel is anticipated. Occasional travel may be required for planning and event meetings, trainings, or other organization-related needs, as directed.

Education/Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in social services, teaching, and/or related field is preferred but not required.
- Must have a Peer Support accreditation or equivalent experience working within the mental health field.
- Four (4) year’s experience facilitating youth led programming.
- Experience managing multiple projects with deadlines.
- Must have a flexible schedule to attend planning and event meetings.
