Partner, Social Impact and Human Rights- Latin America
ERM is seeking a self-driven, purpose driven and motivated ‘Partner’ to join our Social Impact and Human Rights service in Latin America & Caribbean (LAC). You will be part of a dynamic, cross-country, and multidisciplinary team that will be responsible to scale ERM’s social consulting services and to innovate across the intersection of a just energy transition, social inclusion, local development, nature and human rights. You will provide business and technical leadership to a growing team of consultants in the region; generate and deliver high profile projects; and develop excellent client relationships.
The incumbent will be based in any of our offices of LAC- Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Mexico, or Peru.

Key Responsibilities
As a Partner joining our team, your key focus will be leading a high-performance team to help our clients on social performance (including resettlement), human rights, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, DEI, political risk advisory and just transition.
Technically, the role requires demonstrated experience in some or all of the following areas:
- Experience with social performance and human rights issues across geographies (previous experience within consultancy is desirable).
- Experience in delivering and implementing social impact assessment, resettlement planning and implementation as well as social/human rights due diligence.
- Experience in community investment and local development, and methods to assess and quantify socio-economic outcomes.
- Experience in embedding social issues and topics into ESG and sustainability strategies as well as operational management systems.
- Managing or coordinating medium to large sized projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary projects in LAC (we anticipate that this role will also require close collaboration with our regional and global social performance teams).
- Supervising project team(s) and mentoring direct reports (social/human rights consultants).
- Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends.
- Understanding how work of the project team and or practice community contributes to ERM’s success.
- Ability to travel (including fieldwork) on a regular basis.
- Establish and develop long-term senior level relationships with clients in LAC; and raise ERM’s profile in Social Impact and Human Rights.
You also will be responsible for:
- Collaborate with other ERM Partners, our Client Account Directors and Managers to actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities that result in significant revenue growth with mining clients aligned with ERM’s global strategy.
- Provide business value, raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities and selling strategically within client organizations.
- Develop new and expand existing client relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service.
- Maintain a pulse on industry business cycles and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities.
- Manage business opportunities and use technical expertise to develop proposals, including written content, pricing, presentations, and contracting.
- Contribute to leadership and management of project execution activities in support of ERM clients’ mining and other major capital projects.
- Lead consulting engagements in the areas of impact assessment, technical discipline-specific consulting and/or permitting and compliance.
- Build, grow and manage a high-performance team, serving as a leader and mentor to consultants. Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential; ensure rising stars are nurtured, developed, and given new areas of responsibility.
- Support the growth and development of ERM’s global Social Impact & Human Rights service area and actively collaborate with colleagues across the globe. Drive innovation within the business to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market.
- Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business, as well as to lead client and technical teams.
- Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, overall project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal risk management and contractual requirements.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Planning, or similar degree that is relevant to Social Impact and Human Rights.
- Minimal 15 years of relevant work experience across geographies in LAC on Social Impact, Resettlement and Human Rights.
- Strong knowledge of priority sectors (Finance, Energy Transition, Extractives and Technology).
- Demonstrated competencies of applying international environmental and social safeguards (World Bank, ADB, IFC etc.).
- Excellent language skills, English and Spanish is mandatory. Portuguese desirable
- Ability to lead and work with multi-cultural teams.
- Business acumen to understand risks and challenges and to recognize opportunities to provide enterprise-wide solutions for clients.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering multi-million-dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning and delivering large and strategic projects to successful regulatory outcomes.
- Established reputation, including industry and government relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships with Indigenous organizations and governments.
- Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
