• Master’s degree or higher in relevant subject matter such as Law, Human Rights, Political Science, Democratic Studies, International Development, Public Policy or Administration, Latin American studies, or a similar field;
• Demonstrated expertise in human rights subject matter, including conducting research.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the field of human rights in Guatemala;
• Demonstrated experience with developing analytical reports on human rights, security, policing, and social inclusion in Guatemala and/or Latin America;
• Knowledge of the Guatemalan political context and legislative processes, particularly with respect to human rights and relevant policies and reform processes;
• Demonstrated project management experience in human rights field;
• A high level of interpersonal and communication skills;
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, able to work effectively with civil society organizations, USAID, project staff, and other beneficiaries;
• Excellent ability to amiably collaborate and coordinate activities with multiple stakeholders, including government, civil society, and individuals; and
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Database management, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Spanish and English professional proficiency is required; fluency strongly preferred.
• Excellent technical writing skills in both English and Spanish.
