Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Senior Director of Development, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement [R0139498]
ROLE of the POSITION
The Senior Director of Development serves as the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine’s Chief Development Officer, managing the entire donor cycle which includes identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major and principal gift prospects. The Senior Director also manages a personal major and principal gift portfolio.
The Senior Director will work collaboratively with the Associate Vice President for Development and Principal Gifts, and the Dean to advance the mission of the Unit by conceptualizing and implementing strategies to increase financial support from alumni and donors and directing the fundraising strategy of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. The Senior Director will be responsible for meeting individual and Unit fundraising goals.
The Senior Director will be responsible for managing a donor portfolio of up to 120 prospects with a philanthropic capacity to give $50,000 or more to UNLV. The Senior Director will initiate and conduct at least 10 - 12 visits or substantive contact per month for the purpose of determining philanthropic interests, capacity, and readiness. The Senior Director will oversee all of the fundraising efforts for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine.
The Senior Director will develop tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies as well as present written and oral proposals to donors. The Senior Director of Development will solicit gifts directly or in conjunction with the Dean and the UNLV Foundation. The Senior Director will serve as the chieffundraising advisor to the Dean, assisting in developing fundraising plans to meet the strategic goals of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. The position will lead the Medical School's strategic planning for short-term and long-term fundraising goals, and work with internal and external constituents to promote understanding of fundraising priorities.
In addition, the Senior Director of Development will:
1. Oversee all fundraising efforts on behalf of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, which may include: the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives that strategically engage and connect alumni, donors, and the community with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine;
2. Supervise a team of development professionals within the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine; currently one development officer and one administrative support person
3. Successfully cultivate and sustain relationships with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, donors, faculty, and staff to enhance the fundraising outcomes and donor and alumni engagement of the School of Medicine

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred experience in a medical school or healthcare environment. Experience in alumni relations and/or external affairs. Experience in higher education and in dealing with professionals and executives from private and public sectors. Three to five years of supervision experience is preferred. Experience overseeing a unit fundraising program. Oversight of a unit-based capital fundraising initiative.
