AGGPA is extending its presence in East Africa and seeks to recruit a high performing team to deliver on this vision in Ethiopia.
ROLE FOCUS
The role is responsible for ensuring alignment between program design, central functions, and in-country implementation teams to ensure that programs are implemented effectively in country leading to achievement of outcomes and goals. Develop and lead in- country strategy, program execution and operations. As part of the strategic team, contribute to the conceptualisation and design of country specific strategy and program design.
Key Performance Areas:
Regional
•
• Develop, build, and maintain relationships with other AGGPA entities and teams to seek opportunities for collaboration and shared learning.
• Contribute, as necessary, to AGGPA’s expansion and establishment into new countries.
In-Country
• Oversee in- country program strategy and implementation in alignment with the organizational objectives.
• The strategy will align with and support the country’s strategic development goals.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, motivation, and inspiration of Talent in-country by creating a conducive environment for Talent to achieve program goals that contribute to the growth of the organization.
• Ensure compliance to all legal and regulatory requirements in-country for Talent.
• In collaboration with HR and responsible managers, oversee Talent management including Talent coaching and professional development, performance management and recognizing achievements, organizational culture building, and that all Talent are embodying and championing AGGPA’s values.
• Develop and manage the country budgets.
• Cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships (government, private sector, and others) in the country and represent AGGPA’s in the country.
• Keep up to date with current thinking and best practice in the entrepreneurial development space on the African continent.
• Represent AGGPA at national events, including interactions with government, media, and other public platforms.
• Support the CEO in the development of regional strategies and planning to ensure effective implementation.
• Monitoring of performance/Lessons learnt and operational improvement.
• Creating reports and sharing at board level progress etc (spokesperson for the country at a board level).
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
• 5+ years of senior management experience working in Africa for a global or regional organization in entrepreneurship, international development, or the private sector.
• Master’s/MBA in global development, entrepreneurship, education, public policy or another related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong leadership experience in international relations, entrepreneurship, education, development and/or government or public policy within entrepreneurship development, non-profit organisations, international NGO’s and/or learning institutions.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in building and managing new programs or services.
• Ability to work effectively with team members and diverse audiences while demonstrating maturity and poise.
• Demonstrated success at facilitating organisational change as well as building and managing high performing teams in a growing office with proven success.
• Proven ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government, Private Sector, Development agencies.
• Financial management experience, including preparation and management of budgets, contracts, supported by a Finance team.
• Innovative and entrepreneurial individual who can develop new and creative approaches to problems while inspiring others on the team.
