Job Description
Tangeni Shilongo Namibia (TSN) is a German-Namibian nonprofit organization, registered in Namibia since 2015 and active in Swakopmund. TSN operates two educational centres which serve children and youth from disadvantaged communities. The Horizon Primary School provides formal primary education, daily meals and a structured learning environment for over 130 learners. The OPEN DOORS Education Centre (ODEC) complements this through early childhood education, homework support, and a youth technical and vocational education training program, reaching several hundred beneficiaries daily.
As the organization grows to meet the demand to support the growing number of marginalized individuals in Swakopmund, there is a need to strengthen external communication, visibility, and fundraising capacity. Current challenges include limited resources for website development, social media management, donor communication, and impactful storytelling. Strengthening these areas is essential to increase international visibility, engage supporters effectively, and secure sustainable funding for ongoing educational programs. There is a particular need to improve how project impact is documented and communicated through structured content, visual storytelling, and consistent online presence.
TSN is requesting a Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP) to amplify our public relations and marketing efforts by providing technical assistance in communications, marketing and preferably video editing. The VSPP will support the improvement of the organization’s WordPress website and social media strategy (for Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok), and they will contribute to strengthening storytelling and content creation.
The organization has not previously collaborated with the Peace Corps. They understand that the role of a VSPP is very different than a Peace Corps Volunteer or Peace Corps Response Volunteer.

Host Country Partner’s Mission and Goals
Tangeni Shilongo Namibia (TSN) is a German-Namibian nonprofit organization, registered in Namibia since 2015. Its mission is to create realistic, fair and sustainable access to quality education for children and young people from disadvantaged communities. TSN focuses on long term impact by promoting equity, inclusion and empowerment, ensuring that learners are not only supported in school but are given real opportunities to build a better future.
To achieve this, TSN operates two main projects. The Horizon Primary School provides structured primary education, daily meals, and a safe learning environment for children from the Democratic Resettlement Community in Swakopmund. The OPEN DOORS Education Centre (ODEC) complements this by offering early childhood education, homework support, and a youth Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, which creates pathways into employment and skills development. Together, both centers form a holistic approach to education, supporting children and youth from resource-constrained backgrounds.
Virtual Service Engagement and Tasks
The VSPP will engage in the following tasks, in collaboration with their host country partners:
• Conduct a structured review of the organization’s website and existing communication materials (website, social media, donor materials) to identify errors, gaps, improvement areas, and co-develop a prioritized action plan within the first 2–3 weeks
• Support web content updates and improvements, including language refinement, restructuring of existing pages and development of new sections during weeks 3–8
• Co-develop and implement a social media strategy, including creating a content calendar, set up or optimize platforms, and provide weekly support for social media engagement with photos, appropriate messages, and hashtags
• Facilitate two virtual capacity-building sessions (60–90 minutes) with staff, focusing on content creation, storytelling, basic design (Canva), and social media management
• Review and support the improvement of printed communication materials (e.g. posters, outreach materials) and co-develop 2–3 templates or designs (e.g. job vacancy posters, community information posters, educational materials) using Canva by the end of the engagement
VSPPs are expected to engage on the tasks listed above for an estimated 5–15 hours per week. This engagement is estimated to be five hours per week.
Online collaboration will generally occur between 3:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Namibia Time. Specific times will be determined during orientation.
The host country counterpart will have access to WhatsApp, zoom, WordPress, and Canva for regular communication and collaboration.
Per the Child Protection Code of Conduct, when engaging online with minors (0–18), two adults must be present.
