The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement and UNLV Foundation President, Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement [R0140515]
ROLE of the POSITION
The Executive Assistant to the VP supports the activities of the Office of the Vice President, Division of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. This position exists to provide high-level executive support to the Vice President and to oversee the daily operations of the Office of the Vice President for Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement including office management; provides responses and resolutions to problems for Foundation Board of Trustees, division staff, faculty and staff across UNLV and external community members. This position organizes and maintains the VP’s schedule; manages all incoming and outgoing correspondence via various methods including email, written, in-person communication and WebEx meetings. This position is responsible for ensuring the Office of the VP is functioning in a consistent manner in the most effective and efficient manner.
This person will serve as a critical member of the VP’s Executive Leadership Team and will demonstrate both an ability to think in a structured and strategic manner to set long-term strategies for processes, technologies and team members and possess a high degree of attention to detail in daily operations. This person will also manage certain business aspects for UNLV’s affiliate foundations and will be responsible for Board-related initiatives regarding facilitating engagement and frequent interaction with the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees and other institutionally related board members (Advisory Board) in various settings all in conjunction with the Director of Board Relations.
The Executive Assistant to the VP manages special, non-routine projects, especially those requiring confidentiality and coordination with various internal and external constituencies. The incumbent must display a high level of professionalism and use discretion and good judgment regarding the many sensitive issues that come through the VP’s office typically with little or no supervision. These tasks are varied and some are very high-profile events which require utilizing significant independent judgment and sound communication skills.
The incumbent manages all expense, travel, and budgetary documents on behalf of the Vice President. Due to the high profile of the VP’s Office, it is imperative this person is knowledgeable regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. It is critical that the person in this role has excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organization skills. Ability to review, proofread, edit, and rewrite documents prepared for the VP’s signature, or prepared to be sent out on behalf of the VP, ensuring work product quality control by reviewing documents and materials for content, completeness, accuracy, proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and usage of words.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and three to five years of comparable experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Five to seven years of comparable experience in a non-profit or higher education is preferred. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
