In this role, you'll provide direct support to adults living with mental illness in a residential home-like treatment setting, helping them build life skills, achieve recovery goals, and gain greater independence. Every shift is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside a supportive, experienced team.

What You'll Do:
- Provide direct care and support to adults receiving residential mental health services.
- Help develop and implement a schedule of therapeutic and recreational activities for residents.
- Build positive, therapeutic relationships that encourage recovery and personal growth.
- Coach residents in daily living skills, coping strategies, communication, and healthy decision-making.
- Support clients during daily routines, appointments, meals, and recreational activities.
- Encourage independence while treating every resident with dignity and respect.
- Observe, document, and communicate changes in resident behavior and progress toward meeting individualized goals while completing routine wellness and safety checks.
- Assist with medication administration in accordance with agency policies, legal requirements, and training.
- Use trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques to support residents during challenging situations.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and recovery-focused environment.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, case managers, and other members of the treatment team.
Other ways you'll spend your time:
- Ordering medication refills and providing education to residents regarding the prescriptions.
- Serving as a role model to residents and a peer mentor to new employees.
- Providing client transportation as needed.
- Participating in the development of house policies, rules and procedures - and leading by example while following and enforcing the house schedule and rules.
- Being a team player - participating in the "on-call" schedule, scheduled floor time, and training of new staff.
- Attending staff meetings/training and communicating important information during shift changes.
- Conducting group sessions that align with the curriculum and house schedule.

QualificationsWhat We're Looking For:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND
- Meet at least one of the following qualification requirements:
- Be fluent in the non-English language or competent in the culture of the ethnic group to which at least 20% of the mental health rehabilitation worker’s client’s belong;
- Have an associates of arts degree;
- Have two full years of full-time post-secondary education or a total of 15 semester hours or 23 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields;
- Be a registered nurse;
- Have three years of personal life experience with mental illness within the previous ten years;
- Have three years of life experience as a primary caregiver to an adult with a mental illness, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorder, or developmental disability within the previous ten years; or
- Have 2,000 hours of work experience providing health and human services to individuals within the previous ten years.
- Additional qualifications that will set you up for success:
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with and relate with care and empathy to adults with serious mental illness
- Passion for helping others achieve their goals
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a fast-paced environmment
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and databases
- Ability to work in a two-story Victorian home with assignments that may include lifting, carrying or moving items up to 50 pounds (groceries, furniture, client belongings, etc.)
- Reliability and commitment to providing a healing environment
- Ability to maintain a sense of fun and enjoyment in the life-changing work performed!
