About the Role:
The Youth Outreach Program Staff plays an
essential role in the planning, implementation, and delivery of activities and
services designed to support and empower newcomers as they settle in their new
community. This position, under the supervision of the coordinator, works to
ensure that programs and services are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to
the diverse needs of newcomers, fostering a sense of belonging.
This role involves designing and delivering outreach
activities and programs that promote social connection, cultural adaptation,
and personal development for youth. This role will work closely with school
settlement staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders to identify
the needs of newcomer youth, provide resources, and create opportunities for
youth leadership and empowerment. By fostering a positive environment for
personal growth and community engagement, this role plays a key part in helping
newcomer youth navigate their settlement journey and build a strong sense of
belonging.
In this role, you will:
·Plan and deliver engaging group activities, workshops,
and community programs that respond to the diverse needs and interests of
newcomer youth.
·Support participant recruitment and engagement through
outreach activities, referrals, community partnerships, and promotional
initiatives.
·Coordinate program logistics, including room setup,
material preparation, participant registration, scheduling, and activity
facilitation.
·Facilitate settlement-focused programs and activities
in a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment.
·Build positive relationships with youth and families
through ongoing communication, support, and follow-up.
·Provide information, referrals, and guidance to help
participants access community resources, services, and opportunities.
·Collaborate with community organizations, service
providers, and volunteers to strengthen partnerships and enhance program
delivery.
·Assist in the planning and implementation of community
outreach events, cultural celebrations, information sessions, and special youth
engagement activities.
·Monitor participant attendance, engagement, and
feedback to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
·Maintain accurate records, participant information,
attendance tracking, and program documentation in accordance with
organizational policies and confidentiality requirements.
·Foster a respectful, welcoming, safe and inclusive
environment that promotes belonging and supports participants from diverse
cultural backgrounds.
·Respond to participant questions, concerns, and
challenges in a timely and professional manner to ensure positive program
experiences.
·Adapt program activities and facilitation approaches to
meet the varying needs, interests, and learning styles of participants.
·Support program goals by tracking participation,
conducting participant follow-ups, and contributing to outcome measurement and
reporting.
·Promote equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and
youth empowerment through all aspects of program delivery and participant
engagement.
·Participate in team meetings, training opportunities,
and collaborative planning activities to support program success and
organizational objectives.
Education and Skills Qualifications:
·Relevant education and/or combination of training or
experience in human service delivery, settlement service delivery, program
coordination, community development or equivalent
·Demonstrated experience working with youth, newcomers,
immigrants, refugees, and/or diverse communities in community, educational,
settlement, or social service settings.
·Experience planning, coordinating, and facilitating
group activities, sessions, or community-based programs.
·Experience providing client support, outreach,
referrals, and community resource navigation is considered an asset.
·Knowledge of youth development principles,
strengths-based approaches, and trauma-informed practices.
·Understanding of settlement and integration challenges
faced by newcomers and immigrant communities.
·Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity,
inclusion, belonging, and culturally responsive service delivery.
·Knowledge of confidentiality, privacy requirements,
and professional boundaries when working with participants and families.
·Familiarity with community resources, social service
systems, and referral pathways.
·Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and
client engagement skills, with the ability to connect effectively with
individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
·Excellent verbal, written, and cross-cultural
communication skills.
·Strong facilitation, presentation, and group
leadership abilities.
·Excellent organizational and time-management skills,
with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
·Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
within a dynamic team environment.
·High level of attention to detail and accuracy in
maintaining records, documentation, and program data.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual communication platforms.
·Ability to communicate in a language other than
English is considered a strong asset.
·Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support
program and community engagement activities.
