Position Summary: The Cook & In-Kind Donation Assistant supports daily kitchen operations through food preparation, meal service, inventory support, and in-kind donation coordination. The role is responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes and food safety standards while also assisting with the receiving organization, tracking and transport coordination of donated goods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Service
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, production schedules, and kitchen standards.
- Ensure meals meet expectations for quality, presentation, portion control, and consistency.
- Assist with food prep and service to support daily meal production and kitchen workflow.
Food Safety and Kitchen Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Follow all applicable food safety, workplace health standards, and sanitation regulations.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Inventory, Receiving, and Team Support
- Assist with food preparation, inventory management, receiving, and proper storage of deliveries.
- Monitor food supplies and notify management of inventory needs in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to support smooth daily operations.
- Assist with donation pickups.
- Assist with maintaining inventory.
Team Support and General Responsibilities
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to support smooth daily operations.
- Provide operational support where needed to help the team meet meal production and service goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50-60 pounds.
- Must be available to work holidays that fall on weekdays.
