Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse at National Youth Advocate Program provides medical assistance to the persons served including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed.
Responsibilities:
The LPN will perform duties including, but not limited to:
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies.
- Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.
- Identify abnormal findings and notify the client's physician or consulting physicians.
- Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met.
- Assure the administration and implementation of physician orders, and when appropriate, educate the appropriate staff on administering medication and/or treatments as needed.
- Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner.
- Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.
- Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each persons served.
- Assure the program's compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with valid licensure.
- Nursing experience working with adolescents is preferred.
- Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
- Scheduled Hours: every Friday 9:00am-5:00pm and as needed.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
