BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in more than 40 countries and over 20 U.S. cities, the IRC provides resettlement, education, and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Data Entry Intern will be responsible for adding the Adult Education Department’s clients into IRC’s cloud-based case management platform Efforts to Outcomes or ETO, record attendance, and add case notes as needed. All IRC interns must work at least 15 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) training to learn how to use the cloud-based management platform efficiently.
- Enter data into the IRC’s ETO.
- Verify and correct data discrepancies or errors.
- Perform regular monitoring of data to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all data entered.
- Assist with data collection and analysis as needed.
- Organize and maintain files and records.
- Keep class attendance on ETO.
- Support the Adult Education Department team with other tasks as needed.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- The intern will receive hands-on experience working with data management for non-profit organizations.
- The Intern will learn how to use case management platforms to manage data successfully.
- The Intern will practice organizational and time management skills.
- The Intern will practice research and collection of data skills.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student passionate about data management
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Cultural competence and cross-cultural or overseas experience desirable
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
- Experience in Box, Microsoft Teams, and Google Drive desirable
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of data confidentiality principles
- Bilingual speaking abilities are a plus (Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Russian, Pashto, Dari, or Farsi)
