About the Opportunity
Situated within UJA’s Integrated Development Department, UJA’s Philanthropic Leadership Gifts team engages leading donors to support UJA’s mission through a range of high-impact gift opportunities.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Philanthropic Leadership (PLG), the Senior Director, Stewardship, is a critical thinker with strong communication skills, who will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to steward our leading donors.
In this role, you will:
- Hold overall responsibility for the vision, design, management and strategic direction of the stewardship strategy for leading donors to UJA. This will include a range of tactics that will deepen the relationship between leading donors and UJA, among them:
- Special access events and travel experiences
- Accountability reports
- Donor communications
- Recognition levels and giving societies
- Create a plan for the end to end donor experience – our donor journey for donors giving above $10,000 annually to UJA, including an initial thank you upon making a gift, recognition of life cycle events, etc.
- Serve as a strategic partner to front line fundraisers, offering expertise and strategic guidance to ensure comprehensive and coordinated stewardship and engagement of transformational and annual campaign donors.
- Build out recognition levels and giving societies – developing a comprehensive plan for benefits and opportunities offered.
- Partner with our content and communications team to develop high quality strategic, consistent and meaningful messaging and communication to our donors.
- Deliver value-added information on impact to front line fundraisers that they can regularly share with their prospect and donor portfolios.
- Collaborate with the Strategy, Operations and Analytics team to ensure that curated materials and stewardship reports are produced for leading donors as needed.
- Collaborate with planning teams at UJA (Israel and Overseas, Israel Engagement, Combatting Antisemitism, Jewish Engagement, Social Services, etc.) to identify impact stories and donor engagement opportunities.
- Work closely with PLG volunteer leadership and chairs in developing stewardship strategies.
- Manage a team of 1-4 professionals who will manage the central stewardship calendar for the Philanthropic Leadership Group, help to implement key initiatives (events, travel, etc.) and liaise with our communications team on content for donor communications.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Education or equivalent experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
- Experience researching prospects and donors on social media and conventional media
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated functions
- Willingness and ability to learn additional applications and platforms as needed
- Knowledge of Salesforce an asset
- Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
- A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
- Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
- An ability to think strategically and critically
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
- Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Experience in design and/ or branding and marketing
* This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
