ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Community Specialist - Lifeguard will include, but are not limited to the following: • Supervises recreational swimmers and individuals through proper scanning and consistent rule enforcement based on the regulations outline in the American Red Cross standards. • Prevents accidents and injuries. • Provides emergency and lifesaving interventions. • Delivers safe and effective instruction to class participants with varying swimming skills and abilities. • Organize pool activities for individuals and groups. • Performs other related duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification • First aid and CPR/AED certification • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English • Good oral and written communication skills • Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, residents and their families • Good organizational and teaching skills • Must maintain confidentiality of the records of the persons served
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or GED • Experience implementing recreational activities for individuals of all ages and abilities • Experience providing swim instruction • Current Lifeguard certification required • Ability to meet all agency training requirements, including CPR and First Aid certifications. • Six months of related experience is preferred
