Who Are We?
The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. The Percy Hedley Foundation has three main sites providing specialist education, adult day services and residential care to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, and Jesmond.
We work towards excellence every day and our team members are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for the people we support. Our dynamic and flexible service is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, making it easier to live, learn and be part of a world adapting to change.
The Role
We need people who are passionate about providing excellent care and support, who love a challenge and like to have fun at work!
Successful applicants will become part of our team of excellent support staff. We work together with the adults who live in our service or attend our day services to ensure that they enjoy a quality of life that is second to none. If you join us, you will support our clients to access the community, develop social circles and maintain and develop friendships and networks.
The successful applicants will be required to provide full support, including Positive Behaviour Support, to people with disabilities living in a residential care setting to develop and maintain skills to live independent and fulfilled lives. Working as part of a team you will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
Our clients love to be active and have fun! We are looking for candidates who are good team players with a flexible and enthusiastic approach and a readiness to get involved in activities such as Bocha, parties, knit and natter, cinema, pubs and theatres for example.
Previous experience working within a similar setting would be desirable but not essential, as you will be fully supported and provided with all the training that you need.
A flexible working approach is essential as bank positions are required to provide cover as and when needed - the hours and days will vary according to the needs of the service.
