JOB SUMMARY:
As a health care team member, provides services and performs other duties to support and enhance clinical and operational activities within scope of knowledge, experience and training with a focus on quality, efficiency, and patient confidentiality. Fully participate in all health center efforts related to patient care, customer services, productivity and clinic flow.
RESPONSIBILITIES (only Front OR Back office duties apply):
FRONT OFFICE: Actively engage with the health center team to provide high-quality patient care.
a.Respond to patient telephone calls giving basic information, scheduling appointments and discussing fees in a professional manner according to Planned Parenthood guidelines.
b.Complete patient registration and check-out in patient management system.
c.On a daily basis scrub schedule, complete insurance verifications, and make reminder calls as needed.
d.Provide patient information including review of exam findings and provide, as appropriate, supplies, birth control method instruction, referrals and follow-up appointments as directed by clinician.
e.Provide STI, birth control, HIV, PEP/PrEP, and GAC education as needed.
f.Understand and participate in referral and follow-up process in consultation with clinician and health center manager.
g.Release and request medical records in compliance with policy and protocol.
h.Participate in maintaining general upkeep of the facility by keeping lobbies, reception area and other rooms tidy and disinfected.
i.Surgery center only: Prior to surgery, provide supportive education, assure informed consent, and complete necessary forms for patient records.
BACK OFFICE: Actively engage with the health center team to provide high-quality patient care.
a.Perform lab work appropriate to the visit type following CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
b.Maintain appropriate lab records following CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
c.Handle lab specimens according to OSHA and safety guidelines.
d.Collect vitals, perform blood draws, venipunctures, injections and STI screenings in accordance with protocols and guidelines.
e.Conduct client intake in patient management system providing contraceptive and reproductive health care education, including STI’s, HIV, PEP/PrEP and Gender Affirming Care (GAC).
f.Review patient medical, reproductive, family, and social history and note specific issues for clinician to address during visit.
g.Complete all necessary information in the patient’s electronic health record and ensure documentation and informed consents are completed and filed.
h.Determine financial responsibility through fee assessments and complete forms and data entry as necessary.
i.Assist the clinician as needed during the patient visit.
j.Review exam findings with patients as appropriate including instructions, follow up appointments and referrals.
k.Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked, cleaned/disinfected and ready for use.
l.Stock supplies and maintain lab equipment.
m.Complete daily, weekly and monthly quality assurance checks as outlined in policies and protocols.
n.Surgery center only:
a.Assist physician and support patient during procedure as necessary.
b.Perform ultrasound with physician consultation. Perform intra-operative ultrasound with direct surgeon.
c.Assist with preparation, cleaning, sterilization, and stocking equipment and rooms.
d.Perform examination on tissue. Prepare specimens for storage and pick-up.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Travels to health centers beyond home center when coverage is needed.

High School Diploma or GED. Certificate or professional training in healthcare and/or experience in an OB/GYN, family planning or healthcare center experience preferred.
·Able to speak and write English. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
·Basic ability in the use of Microsoft Office products is required.
·Basic clerical and math skills required.
·Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in dealing with clients sexuality and reproductive healthcare choices.
·Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays.
·Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
·Ability to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
·Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
·May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.
·May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
