POSITION SUMMARY:
The Campus Patrol job entails support to the OCW security department for the purpose of keeping the campus, residents, employees and visitors safe.
The position plays an intricate roll in our campus safety and response to health and other emergencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Use tact and courtesy in dealing with residents under sometimes trying conditions.
2. Respond to campus emergencies.
3. Consistently screen visitors.
4. Perform security checks throughout campus as scheduled.
5. Timely report all issues of concern.
6. Timely document all incident reports.
7. Attend regularly scheduled department meetings.
8. Fulfill the duties of the position requirements, to policy and the O’Connor Woods Mission and Core Values.
9. Promote a culture of safe work ethics, team work and unity with all other departments.
10. Participate in the day-to-day operations of the security department including upholding the security operating procedures, reporting and participating in accident/theft investigations and first response to emergency situations.
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
- The ability to maintain business/professional boundaries with all staff, management and outside vendors.
- Maintains compliance with company policy.
- Responds to all verbal and written communication within 24 hours of receipt.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Ensures the safety, health and welfare of staff and residents at all times.
- Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to staff and residents when needed.
- Acts as a positive role model and mentor for staff.
- Adheres to company policies and Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as assigned from direct manager and/or department Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be 18 years old or older.
2. High school diploma or equivalent (copy required).
3. One or more years as security guard, corrections officer or police officer highly preferred.
4. Knowledge of emergency medical and fire procedures.
5. CPR, First Aid & AED Certification required and in active status during duration of employment.
6. Pepper spray card
7. Must have neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
8. Thorough documentation skills including grammatical, spelling and organization.
9. This position is required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment. Employee must meet the requirements to be an eligible driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years during the duration of employment.
10. The ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
11. Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
12. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week (upon Dept. Director approval) with the possibility of a varied schedule.
13. Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
14. Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective, neutral and professional manner.
15. Ability to function as a member of the team in a multi-task environment.
16. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions.
17. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
