Behavior Change Assistant
St. Coletta of Greater Washington is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and secondary disabilities. We are currently seeking A Transition Services Coordinator who will be responsible for providing leadership and support services designed specifically for students with intellectual disabilities to facilitate the development of their career-based pre-vocational skills.
Examples of Essential Functions
- Assists in training staff in techniques of positive behavior intervention, picture symbol use to assist with student transition, development and use of student schedules, preparation and modification of materials as directed.
- Assists in gathering baseline information for behavior change specialists and determine what programs may be in place for students who have been referred for behavior services as part of the behavior referral process.
- Trains 1:1 classroom assistants to transition to new students or trains new staff with students when there is a change in staff.
- Substitutes as a 1:1 staff as needed for students with complex behavior needs. The ability to keep up with running children and or to lift or assist with lifting students is essential to perform this task.
- Assists teachers and other paraprofessional staff in data collection and materials preparation as directed by the behavior change specialists.
- Completes assigned paperwork, collects data as directed by the Behavior Specialist.
- Essential functions of this position as described herein require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling and brisk walking, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (45 lbs.).
Qualifications
Current Registered Behavior Technician required.
Either successfully completing:
- an Associate’s Degree program; Preferred
- completing 60 college credit hours; or
- The ParaPro assessment test administered by the Educational Training Service (ETS).
