Description

Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children struggling with mental illness and who are residing in an out of home placement? If so, we would love to have you as part of the growing Orange County SCCS Residential team!

We are looking for a 2 year post licensed clinical social worker or a licensed marriage and family therapist to serve as the Mental Health-Head of Service/Supervisor for our two Short Term Residential Treatment Service (STRTP) programs in Fountain Valley.

Founded in 1984, South Coast Community Services (SCCS) set out to take a leadership role in filling a critical role in the safety net of our communities. SCCS saw a significant and under-met need to provide shelter, care, therapy, and essential support services for those who are too often left behind: abused, neglected, and underprivileged children and youth. Over the intervening 30+ years, SCCS has grown and expanded to provide a wide variety of services in homes, in clinics, and in community settings to people in all walks of life who "sometimes need a little help.”

This management position will provide clinical oversight and be a driving force behind the implementation of trauma informed mental health services for two six bed, short term residential treatment facilities, both located in Fountain Valley. One home is designated for those that identify as male, between the ages 10-17 years old and the other home is designated for those who identify as female, between the ages of 10-17 years old.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

Ensure that work performed, by provider, equals work documented in the EHR
Track billable hours, holding providers responsible for meeting the monthly, minimum Direct Service Hour (DSH) expectations
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) to monitor the progress of your team. Provide direct, clear, and professional feedback to providers when indicated
Foster collaboration with psychiatrist and direct care staff, to support clinically indicated treatment for clients
Provide data as requested, understands the importance of outcome measures and how they can be utilized to make improvements in the program
Reports, and other written documents, are thorough, completed on time, and written in a professional manner
Responsible for provider compliance with quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives
Maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials
Oversee and/or provide clinical supervision to licensed providers, registered associates, or other staff as needed
Participate in a crisis, on-call rotation for the mental health program at the residential treatment homes
May perform any/all duties of a mental health provider to ensure mental health coverage across locations
Attend mandatory training and ensure staff attendance
Engage community partners to build collaborative professional relationships

Qualifications

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Fluent in both written and verbal English communication

Follows the ethical practice guidelines outlined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
Knowledge of human behavior, interpersonal relationships, social environments, family health issues, and local community resources related to the needs of the program’s specific population
Advanced skills in diagnostic assessments, strong case conceptualization, treatment planning, goal setting, Trauma Informed care and discharge planning
Ability to work with clients, often in crisis, who may have had several hospitalizations due to their mental illness
Utilizes independent judgment necessary to assesses crisis/at risk situations; selects appropriate intervention; implements emergency resources to protect children and families; determines appropriate community resource referrals, prioritizes activities and seeks consultation as needed
Is accountable for modeling respectful, open, ethical, and honest interpersonal communication and behavior with colleagues
Ability to work collaboratively with people of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds (clients, staff and outside agencies)
Follows directions from a supervisor and accepts constructive feedback in a respectful, open, and interactive manner
Ability to make decisions, handle frequently changing priorities, and meet targets while working under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent time management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Public relations are managed in a professional and positive manner
Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations
Proficient in using a computer and office equipment
Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when coverage is needed
Must have own transportation and a proven good driving record

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited college, university or professional school
Minimum of two years’ experience as a LMFT or LCSW and the ability to supervise associate level clinicians
Minimum of 2-3 years providing direct mental health services to children and families, preferably in a group home/residential setting
Minimum of 2 years management experience
Must be licensed, in the state of California, as an LCSW and be in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences
Valid CA driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and ability to drive residents as needed
Completion of CPR/First Aid certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment
Must hold an active STRTP administrator credential or complete the initial STRTP administrator certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment
Willing to train new and existing employees on ProACT principles to ensure and maintain a safe environment.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Bilingual Spanish/English - fluent in both written and verbal communication
Experience working with children/adolescents experiencing neurodevelopmental disorders
Hands on experience working in a STRTP setting
