Job purpose/summary
The Sr. Manager, Enterprise Applications is a key leadership role within Platte River’s digital leadership team and is responsible for driving the organization’s digital transformation, focusing on applications and technological solutions. This role works in close collaboration with various lines of business at Platte River to ensure reliable service levels for day-to-day operations, supporting both legacy and future applications. The Sr. Manager manages business relationships with leaders across all functional areas of the company and builds relationships with senior business leaders for program and project leadership, issues resolution and sustained overall customer satisfaction.

Essential duties and responsibilities
- Enterprise Application Architecture: Develops and manages the Enterprise Application strategy and Enterprise Architecture roadmap in alignment with the overall digital and organizational strategy. Implements tools and processes that facilitate enterprise system integration across the service catalog. Communicates to the organization how this strategy will optimize the delivery of business services and help the organization realize its goals.
- Data Science and Engineering: Manages the development of a data science program through building a data strategy, defining objectives, identifying use cases that deliver value, assembling cross-functional teams, hiring or developing resources, creating process and continuously iterating.
- Solution Facilitation: Proactively overcomes resource challenges by leveraging a wide range of internal and external resources to creatively solve problems. Manages relationships with consultants, implementation partners and service providers and ensures their products are secure, integrated, and cost effective.
- Technological Innovation: Seizes opportunities created by emerging technologies to facilitate innovation in business models, products, and services. Uses information and technology to drive value for the organization. Proactively overcomes technology challenges by leveraging a wide range of options to creatively solve problems and resource constraints. Employs a strategic mindset to see future possibilities and translates them into business solutions.
- Technology Stewardship: Manages and maintains the enterprise application portfolio for the organization, ensuring the technological stability and building functional capabilities. Partners with the business on technology initiatives across the organization.
- Operations Management: Drives operational excellence and demonstrates the department’s value to the organization. Ensures that staff respond to customer requests in accordance with established service levels. Collaborates with other project managers and oversees projects across the portfolio, ensuring effective execution, proactive handling of issues, and continual improvement in delivery. Prepares and manages the annual department budget and participates in monthly budget meetings with finance business partners, providing insight on budget variances.
- Business Strategy: Contributes to the success of the organization by understanding the organization’s industry, core functions, products, services and customers. Contributes to the success of the organization by combining that understanding with technology solutions to solve business problems.
- Relationship Management: Identifies, builds, and maintains formal and informal networks and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the digital management team and others across the organization. This includes leveraging these relationships to influence positive outcomes and deliver value for the organization.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proven experience in overseeing the implementation and management of complex, enterprise-wide business software solutions
- Proven experience managing data architecture/engineering/science/analytics staff
- Proven experience developing an enterprise application strategy and architecture roadmap
- Project and resource planning and management experience
- Experience with managing business analysts and vendors performing the work to ensure the delivery of results and value to the organization
- Excellent active listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of system and software quality assurance industry practices and methodologies
- Ability to exercise good judgment, making decisions in the best interest of the organization
- Proven ability to architect and present technology alternatives based on a business concept
- Lead development of process and implementation of technology that aligns with business needs of enterprise
- Collaborates with subject matter experts across the company to develop and manage the execution plans for key strategic initiatives
- Partners with the Director to both assist and drive business strategies and efforts
- Focuses on the near-term deliverables as well as the longer-term strategy horizon as the energy and utility industry goes through transformative shifts
- Leads staff and consultants to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition
- Strong design and implementation skills highly preferred
- Knowledge of business process improvement disciplines (i.e., Six Sigma)
- Ability to manage change
- Experience management of complex and large-scale projects and/or teams
- Experience in the Utility industry
- Experience with data integrations platforms such a Informatica, Boomi, etc.
- Experience with Service Now and managing Service Now teams
- Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP and WACS
- Experience with Energy Management Systems (OSI, PCI, PI, SCADA)
- Experience with organizational change management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- Valid driver’s license and ability to remain insurable under the vehicle liability policy
- Ten years of experience supporting/managing enterprise-level applications
- Five years experience leading strategic business transformation programs/initiatives
- Five years of experience leading enterprise application staff and vendors
Preferred education, licenses and work experience
- ITIL certification and experience working with an ITIL structure
- Previous supervisor/manager experience leading a team of technical employees
- Project Management related certification (CAPM, PMP, etc.)
