Location: While IES Abroad is headquartered in Chicago, the Workday Administrator may work out of their home office or from IES Abroad headquarters in Chicago. IES Abroad's office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.

Summary of position:
The Workday Administrator is the Workday technical subject-matter expert for global business users and responsible for implementing, maintaining, administering, and supporting IES Abroad's Workday platform. They must have a deep understanding of the many functional areas within the organization and their business, processes, requirements and product objectives. They are responsible for supporting the Workday Finance, Adaptive Planning & HCM modules in the areas of configuration, business processes, reports, and security.
Based on evolving business priorities, the Workday Administrator will periodically be responsible for assuming the following roles:
- Product Support (Helpdesk)
- Project Coordinator
- Business Analyst
- Business Systems Administrator
- Quality Assurance
- Vendor Relationship Liaison
- Trainer
The Workday Administrator acts as the interface between internal and external partners (e.g., other IT teams, IES departments, global Centers, and external vendors). The Workday Administrator is a champion of innovative and creative software solutions that empower end users to fulfill the organization's mission.
Essential job responsibilities & duties:
Within the Workday platform, perform the following:
- Analyze and document business requirements for projects and software configurations and make these configurations in the software.
- Analyze and compare datasets or system data, looking for trends, issues, solutions, or areas for improvement.
- Administer configuration changes and additions for business processes, user roles, suppliers, customers, business unit additions and changes, and other related functions.
- Administer EIB (enterprise interface builder).
- Implement and manage standard testing procedures for application release updates, which includes creating, reviewing, executing, and tracking test plans and results. Validate testing procedures to ensure they meet both business and technical requirements.
- Review and present software upgrades to HCM & Finance business partners. Communicate release changes to business partners, analyze and test new features, and help guide business partners on use of new functionality.
- Design materials for staff training and conduct the training.
- Participate in project management activities. Coordinating efforts between internal business partners and IT: may include communication of status updates, timing of deliverables, budget adherence to pertinent staff.
- Collaborate with management, technical staff and functional SMEs to understand business needs/issues, troubleshoot problems, conduct root cause analysis and develop cost effective resolutions for system and data anomalies.
- Ensure data integrity by developing and executing necessary processes and controls around the flow of data - verifies accuracy of new/changed configurations.
- Lead testing process for changes prior to deployment as appropriate and document changes before and after deployment.
- Maintain security matrix for the Workday platform security.
- Support and resolve production issues through a ticket management system.
- Provide assistance to peers, developers, and IT support team by reviewing issues reported from end users, determining and reconciling discrepancies. Solve for root cause of errors and help to establish procedures to correct them.
- Develop and modify reports to meet needs of internal and external parties.
- Perform other duties and participate in special projects, as needed.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business or information technology or equivalent work experience.
- Accounting or Human Resources education or designation preferred.
- 5+ years ERP experience with 2-3 years working with Workday platform.
- Experience as a functional lead in at least three business areas: FDM, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, HCM (Human Capital Management), Adaptive Planning.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills including expressing solutions, ideas, and reasoned arguments.
- Demonstrated skills in project management, time management, and problem solving.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead project teams and function with all levels of staff and management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business or information technology or equivalent work experience.
- Workday HCM and/or Finance certification strongly preferred
