- Schedule may be 12-hour shifts, as needed
- Utilized to fill shifts when regular staff are unavailable

Description:

Requirements & Skills:
|
- High school diploma and/or equivalent experience
- Ability to advocate on behalf of survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking
- Bi-lingual (English, Spanish, Creole preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
- Training and experience in crisis intervention counseling preferred.
- Must adhere to The Shelter’s policies and procedures.
- Ability to advocate on behalf of victims
- Must pass state and national background checks
- Must have a valid Florida Driver's License
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or exemption
- Successful completion of Core Competency course to obtain and maintain privilege through licensor.
- Successful completion of first aid and CPR class.
- Must adhere to The Shelter’s policies and procedures.

Duties:
|
- Provide empowerment-based family advocacy for all participants
- Assess participants’ needs.
- Answer the crisis hotline and provide callers, as well as all program participants, with empowerment-based crisis counseling, guidance, emotional support, information, and referrals. Determine if the victim is seeking emergency shelter and offer assistance, as needed.
- Assess lethality of participant’s situation.
- Provide services to eligible individuals regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, citizenship, immigration status, marital status, or language spoken.
- Assist participant with safety plan (development & implementation). Provide information on the dynamics of domestic violence and human trafficking.
- Provide empowerment-based counseling (face-to-face and/or via telephone) in either individual or group settings.
- Support, assist, and advocate for victims at any stage in the criminal justice system.
- Assist victims in securing rights, remedies, and services from other agencies.
- Provide referrals, vouchers, and/or supplies for transportation, food, clothing, and emergency housing.
- Perform rounds and ensure cleanliness throughout The Shelter, maintaining its overall cleanliness standards. Report any maintenance issues to the maintenance department.
- During Security Desk breaks and Shelter off-hours, assist with monitoring cameras from ES Desk; remotely open doors and gates for authorized individuals, screen all visitors to the site, using established protocols; allow or deny entrance at the front gate. Screen all visitors at the front entrance of the building before they enter.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
