Days/Hours of Work: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
On-call Availability also required.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Beacon Community Services Thrift Shops operate throughout the CRD. Each location serves individuals in the community by providing quality items at affordable prices. Maintaining strong, positive relationships with Donors is a very important part of this role. Our Thrift Shops are a success due to our generous donors and our team of dedicated staff and volunteers.
Reporting to the Thrift Depot Manager, The Depot Worker screens, accepts, sorts, prices and stocks donations at the Thrift Shop Depot. They also provide exceptional customer service and support to our volunteers who assist in depot operations and contribute to a positive team environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the thrift shop donation depot is a safe environment for customers, staff, and volunteers
- Follow Donation Safety Guidelines – Accept, sort, and price sellable items. Politely decline unsellable items
- Prepare deliveries for Brentwood and Victoria Thrift Shops and transport items between all three Sidney Thrift Shops in our Beacon-provided van
- Maintain attractive retail layout and display
- Provide excellent customer service with clear and friendly communication
- Provide support and assistance to volunteers, ensuring a positive experience
- Maintain a clean depot area including daily trash and recycling removal
- Maintain positive relationships with the public, co-workers, and volunteers
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Class 5 Driver's license preferred but not required
- Customer service experience is considered an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the position including:
- Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
- Be on your feet for the entire shift and in all-weather conditions
- Skilled at maintaining professionalism in stressful situations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks and priorities
