Elev8 AmeriCorps Program
Safe Passages is a non-profit organization based in Oakland, CA. We work to improve the lives of children, youth, and families through education programs, community partnerships, and public advocacy. We are looking for passionate, motivated, and dedicated individuals like you to join our AmeriCorps program for a year of service.
AmeriCorps members serve at school sites in Oakland and Emeryville in teams of 3 to 10. Members are trained to provide tutoring and mentoring to students in Reading, Writing, and Math. No previous teaching experience is necessary, only a passion for education. Check out our website to learn more about our program and what to expect.

- Monthly Living Allowance of $2,285 (full-time) and $1,238 (part-time)

- The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is offered to members who complete a term of service $4,826.50 (full-time) and $2,626.22 (part-time)
Eligibility Requirements
- All members must pass criminal history check, including FBI, DOJ, and NSOPW searches
- Proof of tuberculosis clearance and Full COVID-19 Vaccine
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proof of citizenship or legal permanent resident status
- Commitment to the full term of service
- Interest in working with children
- A positive and resilient attitude
- Communication skills necessary to work with children, school staff, and volunteers
- Experience working with diverse communities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in teaching, tutoring or youth development
- Demonstrated commitment to community service
- Bilingual
We will begin to interview for AmeriCorps Elev8 members starting February 1<sup>st</sup>,2023 and they will begin their service term in August of 2023.
