The IES Abroad Seoul Program Coordinator facilitates the IES Abroad Seoul program and is provides student affairs, administration, and relationship support with university partners and housing providers in Seoul. IES is looking for a Program Coordinator with student affairs experience who should be familiar with the nature, organisation, and customs of higher education in both the United States and Korea. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with international education and intercultural competence.
Purpose:
To provide student services and academic support for students taking part in Seoul-based IES Abroad Study Abroad programs.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide student services and academic support to IES Study Abroad students
Assist with orientation programs and educational workshops.
Assist with the coordination, and supervision of field trips
Provide recruitment and marketing information to IES Abroad Chicago-based staff
Relationships:
- Reports to Centre Director, Seoul
- Works with IES Abroad staff, in particular, Dean of Student Affairs, Academic management, Marketing, Crisis Management, and other associated departments.
- Assists with the relationships with university partners, Housing staff and other Faculties in which students may enrol
Key Tasks
Provide student services and academic support
- Assist with the coordination of student housing and act as a liaison between students and housing providers.
- Provide student services and support for students' physical and emotional well-being
- Maintain health and safety standards
- Assist with emergency and evacuation contingency plans
- Act as contact for students and IES Abroad international staff in an emergency
Assist with Orientation programs and educational workshops.
- Assist with student arrivals and orientation program
Assist in the development, coordination, and supervision of field trips
- Work with Centre Director, Seoul, to develop content for program-related field trips.
- Make accommodation and travel arrangements.
- Supervise students on field trips.
Report to the Centre Director, Seoul, on all aspects of the programs.
- Report regularly to the Centre Director
- Manage financial and student records (student issues, university partnership updates (pre-registration, course availability, timelines, communications, etc.)
- Assist in the preparation of reports
Provide recruitment and marketing information
- Contribute to IES Abroad general marketing and information materials
- Assist with preparation of virtual and written pre-departure materials
Help facilitate strategic relations with the University partner staff and IES Abroad worldwide staff
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with University, Housing, and other associated staff.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with IES Abroad worldwide team
- Initiate and promote opportunities for cross-cultural learning, encouraging student involvement in university and community-related activities.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a university Degree in a related area.
- First Aid qualified and hold a current driver's licence
- Ability to work limited odd hours when dealing with an emergency
Desired Experience:
- Experience in an academic or administrate position working with students.
- Experience working with international students and familiarity with other global university systems are advantages.
- Basic accounting procedures and working with databases.
- Skill in advising and counselling students.
- Experience studying or working internationally with experience studying or working in the USA and Korean university system.
Desired Attributes:
- Mature outlook to assist with the student services.
- Ability to empathise with students from different cultures.
- High level of written and spoken communication skills in English and Korean.
- Use of initiative and creativity in problem-solving in stressful situations.
